His Inescapable Penis Vice Gripped Her From Inside.
I found some of my old editing work on a flash drive, and there was one novel which grabbed my attention and I immediately started screeching like a pterodactyl . Thankfully It never actually made it to publication because it was so bad, and the editor above me got fired for letting it get past the vetting process.
Mostly I’m just reading through it and cringing, but then I came across some of my own commentary at the side.
It starts out pretty tame. And yes, some people DO forget the names of their MC’s half way through a book. (Or the second chapter in this case, switching back and forth between Karen and Kate so much I eventually gave up.)
Then starts to become a little bit eeeeeh, and I have to make several of these changes and suggestions, mostly prompting for the language to be removed and rewritten entirely as it was VILE.
Then about chapter five I have lost my mind and well…:
this shouldn’t make me wish i was an editor but i wish i was an editor.
I just spat perfectly good coffee out.
I debated whether I should actually reblog this, because fucking Christ this ia horrible.
Okay who the fuck brought this back.
whenever an editor complains again about ANYTHING I write… I’ll just send them this post.
From now on, whenever I start to beat myself up about my writing, I’m going to look at this post.
I’m literally in tears.
Dear god
im fucking dead
I have never been so happy about a rank reset in all the time I’ve played this game.
If you look at the ingredients list and it’s a bunch of words you don’t even know… neither does your body (x)
Just like if you break apples and grapefruit down into their chemical components, I’m willing to bet that most people wouldn’t recognize the “ingredients” either. It’s a bunch of words you don’t even know:

Don’t use these scare tactics - Chemicals aren’t inherently bad. Literally everything is made up chemicals. Trust me, your body knows what niacin is. It knows how to digest fructose and calcium sulfate. Even if you only consume the most basic and “real” foods that are pulled directly off the vine, you’re still ingesting a series of chemical compounds that you probably can’t pronounce. That’s okay.
thanks to drhoz for submitting!
“If you can’t pronounce it, it’s bad for you” is literally the worst pseudo-scientific scaremongering bullshit tactic. I hate it so much.
I’m pretty sure you can pronounce “arsenic”, but that doesn’t change the fact that arsenic is highly toxic. On the other hand, you couldn’t pronounce “cycloadenosine monophosphate” or “nicotine-amide-dinucleotide-phosphate”, though both of them serve vital roles in human biochemistry and you would die if your body wouldn’t produce them.
Cyanide: Easy to pronounce, very bad for you.
Eicosapentaenoic acid: Difficult to pronounce, very good for you.
It’s more important to know what the chemicals are and why they’re in there. Anti-intellectualism helps no one.
– James Kennedy, ‘Chemophobia’ is irrational, harmful – and hard to break
I’m gonna keep reblogging this until my knuckles fall off.
This is especially hilarious because grapefruit is well known for being dangerous for some people because of how it can interact with certain medications. Do fruit loops do that?
A candidate’s microphone should be turned off when it isn’t their turn to speak, so that they cannot interrupt.
We live in a world where trained cops can panic and act on impulse, but untrained civilians must remain calm with a gun in their face
The United States needs a separation of Business and State
oh man that’s some cute anime picture right there, wait, what’s that in the corner.
oh
oh no
It still surprises me at how few people have seen Freak of the Week, and I love sharing it with friends because of the inevitable, “How the hell have I never seen this?” look of awe drawn out on their face.
And man, it really is gorgeous.
Directed by Juanjo Guarnido, it took the team about a year of hard work to hammer out this bloody masterpiece (which you can learn about in his video here) using a combination of 3D animation with the power of college interns skill of a team of artists to painstakingly re-draw the 3D elements they wanted in 2D frame-by-frame, not to mention the post processing and… everything else.
Even though it came out in 2014, it doesn’t seem to have ever garnered the attention it truly deserves.
I really wanna drive this point home, so to give you an idea, Ghost by Mystery Skulls, animated by MysteryBen27 has 18,147,263 views. Freak of the Week has only 2,271,121 views at the time I’m writing this. That’s fucking depressing for something so … phenomenal. I want more of this, and hell, maybe you do too. But we’re not going to see anymore simply because the right people haven’t seen it. In fact, it failed to reach a respectable level of Internet Popularity®, Juanjo himself even described it in the comments section as having ruined him because of how little attention it got.
So if you’re reading this and you’ve got some connections with a TV network or something, consider pulling some strings to get this video spoon-fed to the masses, because people ought to see this. I’m sure Juanjo would be all too happy to oblige. And hell, if you wanna buy the art book, you can get the link here for about $50.
Now, maybe you recognize the former Disney animator Juanjo Guarnido for his other work: Blacksad.
Which is a comic set in the late 1950′s about a hardboiled private investigator published originally by Dark Horse Comics that does… y’know, the …
… noir investigator …
… aloof ladies man…
… badass …
… detective story thing.
That I haven’t yet read but I TOTALLY NEED TO.
Look,
I guess I’m bringing up Freak of the Week because I was reading the comment section and, man, it kinda got me down.
Some of the best things things out there just haven’t been seen by the right people, I guess. But I suppose it’s also a depressing statement on the culture of the internet that the video makes.
This is depressing. If you haven’t watched this video yet PLEASE do, I was in awe and fell instantly in love with it when I first saw it and just assumed something is fantastic and detailed would become an Internet hit …
Apparently not.
Well it should be, I hope this gets to the right people and the video gets the attention it rightfully deserves.

Dear Millennials,
Do you hate the way Baby Boomers talk about you? Well, I want you to remember something:
The Baby Boomers were also the generation of the Hippies. And the so-called Greatest Generation said the exact same things about the Baby Boomers as the Baby Boomers say about Millennials.
The exact same things. The only thing missing was the word “selfie”.
Hippies/Baby Boomers were called lazy and entitled. They were called selfish and self-important. They were treated as if they didn’t know how to work or show proper respect for their elders and everybody thought that they wanted some sort of special treatment. The Baby Boomers were perceived as this group who thought everything was all about them. If you asked the Baby Boomer Hippies, at the time, they’d say they were just exploring sexuality and fighting racism and trying to do away with the old ways because the old ways weren’t working. They fought and they protested and they were passionate.
Then, to borrow a phrase from The Dark Knight, “you either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain.” That’s what happened to the Baby Boomers. But, there’s a third option.
Remember.
Remember what this feels like. Remember what it’s like to be in your teens and twenties. Remember that it’s not easy. Remember everything the past generation says about you.
Because there will come a day when the Millennials are in their 30s and 40s and 50s. Where the President and Congress will all be Millennials. Where you will be the establishment. You will be in charge.
And there will be people of your generation, your age group, who will look at the Post-Millennials and say “Look at how selfish and disrespectful they are! What is wrong with their music? What is wrong with their hair? They can’t be separated from their technology for one second, can they?! People in my generation knew how to work hard! They weren’t lazy and entitled like these kids are!”
It will happen. Don’t let it.
Fight it. Fight for yourselves now but, when you’re older, fight for the next generation.
Break the cycle.
If you hate the way you’re treated by the older generation and the media, then remember that and don’t do it to the ones who come after you.
You’re the bad guy in somebody’s story.
Pal I’m the bad guy in MY story
Same, self-destructive asshole for the win
