@kat2107
sorry to everyone out there who thinks they have the funniest tshirt but i think i can confidently say i just saw the actual funniest tshirt just now. i passed by a beautiful black woman with long multicolor braids blowing majestically in the beach breeze & she was wearing an oversized tshirt that said in gigantic letters "WHITE BOY OF THE YEAR"
Troy Barrett is Ryan Price's biggest fan boy.
yayyyy
One last thing this is like nothingburger discourse, almost a rite of passage for being a real celebrity.
Need everyone to move on swiftly, and lastly you guys can never make me feel bad for paparazzi lol.
Hudson snapped at paparazzi? At Parisian paparazzi in Paris?? The people who killed Lady Di??? He should have gone full Björk on them. Put those MMA skills to use, Huddy.
i just KNOW troy and ilya have the most vile, twitter cancel-able text conversations. they’re hockey players (insults as bonding), queer, had/have terrible fathers, became friends when they were both going through it…
troy texts ‘running late’ and ilya responds with ‘faggot.’ troy hearts the message. they send and make kill yourself jokes. they’re rating their shits. when hr-verse charlie kirk gets shot, troy is sending the video and ilya is hearting it. obviously they’re vetting dick pics but the ranking is incomprehensible. troy is making russia jokes. they’re sending sonic porn. creating convoluted bond-villain style ways to kill people (only like, 75% of the people have actually wronged them)
I love how the Role Model discusses redemption in a really covert manner.
Because lately it seems like people had forgotten that redemption isn't something a person can deserve or earn. It doesn't have any conditions beyond just trying to do better.
Troy choses to do better, he doesn't ask for premitionon or wait for someone to tell him to do it. He sees the opportunity (moving to a new team) and takes it. He puts in the work, even though it's difficult and awkward.
He apologizes and at no point does he expect to be forgiven. And even if he weren't forgiven, that wouldn't change his decision to be better, because he isn't doing it just to get people to forgive him. He genuinely wants to be a better person.
And that is ultimately all that matters, to do better even with little to no support, to do better even if not forgiven and to do better even if the rest of the world seems against it.
in 2015 we didn’t have AI psychosis so people had to make do by believing a dress was white and gold
Because it was
Is the gold in the room with us right now?
yes. the dress is gold.
...
the dress has always been gold
r u saying this doesn't look white and gold to u???
...
what.
it's a white and gold dress in cool blue dim lighting w/ bright warm light behind it, making an optical illusion. we're not fucking doing this again
oh god fucking damn it
I know tumblr likes to exclusively make it about bloody hospitals but this is what Color Theory is about
HOW DID THIS DISCOURSE COME BACK IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2026!???
when I tell you people were shouting up and down my dorm's hallways about this when it first happened
(the dress was by Roman Originals and it was in fact blue and black. but they made a one-off white and gold one for charity later)
Three sentences to describe the kind of character Troy Barrett is.
Troy’s handwriting was terrible, but he tried his hardest to write legibly when he scrawled To my friend Nathan. Then he added his mess of a signature and, after a moment’s hesitation, a little happy face. Because maybe he could be the kind of guy who drew little happy faces next to his autograph.
Role Model, ch.9
Once again a niche pet peeve of mine in the heated rivalry fandom but when people say Shane was traded to Ottawa I get sooooo annoyed. He was NOT traded. He became an Unrestricted Free Agent (UFA) and signed with Ottawa. Those two things are quite different, especially in terms of what that means the Montreal Org was doing. Pleaseeeee stop saying he was traded.
Shane become an UFA and saying "Fuck Montreal" is actually really important for his character development.
Shane LEFT because they were dicks. He stopped just prioritizing this team over himself.
He walked away and went to walk his own path
Honestly, the hard-on people have for punishment is scaring me.
Honestly, GLP-1 is a trip and a half. My doctors put me on it because my immunesuppressants cause weight gain through increased fat storage and increased appetite, and that fucks with my BP, which fucks with my kidneys.
I went from too much appetite to absolutely none.
I need to log my food just to remember to eat enough. And forget dense foods. Luckily, I've already been eating pretty healthy and love salmon and veggies, yogurt and fruit. Because that's about all I can stomach.
last night I kept thinking about the big AI fic hunt that's going on at the moment and how it just made me feel sad. I suppose it's because I can empathize to some degree. When I was a kid and I first got involved with online fan communities I wanted so badly to belong (like all kids do) and I saw the response that talented artists and writers got. I was drawing all the time back then, but I wasn't a skilled artist and the few things I posted would be ignored. Since I was also tracing other people's art a lot (did everyone do that too?) I uploaded some of those, which looked so much better in my opinion. When somebody kind of called me out on that by saying that I should mark my art as traced, I felt so ashamed. And I'm glad they pointed this out without making it sound like I was a bad person because of it. The point is, I didn't want to harm anyone or steal from anyone, although of course it was a kind of stealing from the original artist, and it was deceiving. But if someone had called me out publically, or called me a liar, or kept commenting on it, I don't think I would have been able to stay in any fandom community after it. So, I get why people are frustrated about it because it's frustrating to feel lied to, and I get that people are afraid about what the popularity of AI will do to creative fanworks, but I want to posit that so far, it doesn't look like writers and artists are creating fewer original works. And I want to gently caution people that when you feel like someone is now an acceptable target for outrage and shaming, we tend to easily fall into this mob mentality because it feels good and righteous to do so. I'm not saying to just ignore AI created fanworks when they are falsely presented as original, but maybe we can take a moment to weigh the harm of that against the harm of publically shaming another person, and adjust our reaction accordingly. As I said, this reflection was prompted by me feeling sad about this whole situation. I think that sadness stems from the fact that I can understand the general motivation people have to cheat when it comes to their creative fanworks, and I don't think it's a new problem in fan spaces. It sucks! It sucks to feel deceived and to have to be constantly vigilant against deception. But maybe that's not so much the fault of any individuals in fandom and maybe public shaming is not actually making fandom enjoyable for anyone involved.
thinking more on Kit's wonderful post and just feeling a well of empathy for anyone who wants so badly to be part of a community, to be seen as someone with good ideas and talent and the ability to contribute around the media they love so much, but also feels scared or untalented or unsafe to be an amateur on a stage that—post-2020—feels so much bigger than it used to, with so many eyes on it. it's so easy to imagine (or remember!) being in that person's shoes. I want nothing more than for a space to feel open and free to amateur, unpolished exploration. fic isn't perfect and that's why we write it.
