Designed this character based off of Spanish Moon Moths.

Concept wise, I imagined her as a kind of guide to the afterlife. She uses her lantern to lead lost souls (who take the form of moths) and helps put them to rest. Maybe she can't appear when there's a new moon or something, so on those nights there are lots of restless spirits.

Happy Black History Month! Love, celebration, and the preservation of history are so important right now. As a child, I struggled to accept my identity, and I realized later that this was due to the harmful messages that surrounded not only me, but also other Black and Brown children. However, by encountering media that celebrated the Black experience, I learned to embrace my identity. I slowly learned to love my kinky hair, dark skin, and broad, button nose. This is what motivates me to create art that celebrates the Black experience - the hope that children will learn to love themselves rather than resent their features.

Though there are forces that seek to dismantle the media that depict the Black experience, it is my hope that we're able to create even more art, stories, and songs that celebrate our history and resilience. <3

I've recently taken the time to revisit art that I made nearly 10 years ago, and I realize I was far too harsh on myself and much better than I thought. Maybe I'll have similar thoughts another 10 years from now.

every time someone says "white people are white first no matter their marginalizations", a bunch of white people jump to prove this is true. are we not tired of doing this.

ive had smth in my head the past few days - about how white queers obsession with being "visibly queer" and breaking the 'gender binary' (primarily seen in tme white queers) is in itself a facet of white sumpremacy. i still havent quite figured out the right words to explain what i mean. im not going to try and find them right now. what i am going to say is that white queers think that identifying as queer somehow sets them apart from white supremacy as a force & then dont bother to do any sort of work to examine their position of privilege within white supremacist society, because all they see is that they dont gain full access to white privilege. this is not enough and will never be enough. we do not stop being white just because we are white & marginalized. this is antiracism 101. please start actually working to understand your position within white supremacy, because i assure you it is not "the most hated out of everyone alive" and feeling like that is directly rooted in white supremacy.
