Something something the reasoning behind why ai is bad. One of the best ways it’s been put. I guess this doesn’t make sense unless you’ve read 17776 but alas
one more year until people stop dying
FOUR DAYS
i see a lot of criticism towards 17776 along the lines of “ugh if humanity actually stopped aging or dying and people really did just live forever they would not spend their time playing football… that is not what EYE would do with MY time…. this is so unrealistic….. clearly the author just wanted to write about sports 🙄😒” and like. yeah. yes. exactly. jon bois is a sports writer and sports analyst who wanted to examine why people love sports and why sports have cultural staying power and why he especially finds sports compelling and what sports have to say about the human condition and our ability to care. so he made up a fake scenario about humans being immortal and then he made it about sports. and he wrote about sports. the story is titled ‘what sports will look like in the future.’ if that isn’t something that you can vibe with then maybe the story simply is not for you
dumbass space probes
oh my god I just realized this is the year people will stop being born and stop aging and stop dying
Sometimes i randomly remember "who are you? I love you too" and have to have a little cry about it
How long has it been like this? On April 7th, 2026, people stopped being born. On the same day, people stopped dying, and people stopped aging.
A bit funny/interesting that this date ended up being during the Artemis II mission.

April 7, 2026 - The Moment
On April 7, 2026, all humans suddenly, without explanation, became immortal. They stopped dying. They stopped aging. They stopped being able to conceive babies. Fifteen thousand years later, they would still have no idea why this came to pass.
The date became known as “The Moment.” Over the next few thousand years, these humans would solve all of their problems. War, poverty, disease, and Lunchables would become extinct ideas. They would develop nanites to prevent catastrophic accidents. They would finally perfect space travel and visit a neighboring solar system…only to find it barren.
After thousands of years of discovery, humans became bored. They had achieved everything they ever wanted, and had nothing left to look forward to except a theoretical eternity of life; at this point they had also disproven the theory of the heat death of the universe.
So they instead focused their existence on football.
