Just when you thought your night couldn't get any worse you were told that there were no more rooms left at the motel you had stopped at. You desperately needed fuel but it was getting dark and you knew if you didn't sleep then you were sure to cause an accident, so you decided you would fill up in the morning and that sleep was the best option right now.
The drive so far had been boring. Straight roads with minimal cars and trees for miles. The only company you had was the radio and the odd bird squawking in the sky. It was peaceful but yet you wished that you had some human company.
"Are you sure there are no rooms left? It doesn't even need to have a private bathroom, I'll take anything at this point" you pleaded with the man who was sat behind the desk. Clearly he didn't care about your situation and you knew he wasn't going to help.
Just as you were about to walk out you heard someone clear their throat. "I um... Have a room" the voice said.
"Well good for you, I'm so happy for you" you sarcastically bit back turning around and facing the man. If you had seen him before you wouldn't have decided to make a sarcastic remark. The man looked like he would be able to kill you with one finger. "Sorry, that was rude" you apologized to him. You could feel your face heating up under his gaze and you wanted to turn around and get out of there.
"I should have worded it better, love. I have a room with a spare couch yer more than welcome to use for the night". You eyed the man up and down and your first thought was 'fuck the couch, I'll take the bed with you' but on the other hand he looked a bit scary if you were honest, with his greying hair, scarred cheeks -which you just wanted to run your fingers over- the black leather jacket.
You thought for a minute. You really did need the rest and would it be so bad if you got murdered by someone as hot as him? "If you're sure, that would be great" you cringed at the small talk and shook your head. You really needed to communicate with men more often.
"The names Chibs. Filip." Chibs extended his hand and you latched onto it.
"Nice to meet you James Bond. I'm Y/N." Chibs smirked and you found yourself smiling back at him.
Chibs gestured for your handbag and you looked at him with your eyebrows raised. "I'm not robbing ye, I'm offering to carry it for ye". You handed the bag over and he slung it over his shoulder. "Follow me" You did as you were told - rather easily - and followed Chibs up a couple of flights of stairs.
You followed him to room number 14 and he opened the door gesturing for you to go in first. It was a decent sized room with a mini fridge, a double bed, the couch you were promised, a wardrobe, a bathroom and some tea and coffee facilities. Chibs placed your bag down on the couch and muttered a "make yerself at home" as he flicked the kettle on. You watched him move around the room with ease as he took his boots off and shrugged his jacket off his shoulders.
"So, what brings a pretty lass like yerself out this way?"
"I'm on my way to Charming. It's this small town with friendly people apparently, I'm starting a new job there actually". You found yourself rambling.
"Very friendly people in Charming" Chibs laughed. "I'm one o' them".
"What are you doing here then, instead of there?"
"Just on the way back from a job. Needed somewhere to sleep for the night. The motel is full because there were a few of us on the job".
"So you're the reason I couldn't get a room!" You jokingly accused him.
"It looks like you have a room to me, darlin'." There was that smirk again.
You yawned and Chibs took that as his cue to leave you in peace. "Change of plan. I'll take the couch, you have the bed".
"That's kind of you, but no thanks, I'm more than happy with the couch".
"Ye sure?" You nodded. "Right, well if ye need anything i'll just be over there" he pointed to the bed in the corner.
You nodded once more. "Thank you". You went into the bathroom and got changed into a t-shirt and some joggers, brushed your teeth and headed to the couch. You glanced at Chibs who was looking at you smiling. You threw him a smile back and lay down, wrapping yourself under the blanket that Chibs kindly gave you.
You awoke to the light breaking through the blinds and illuminating the whole room. You rubbed your eyes and stretched out, sighing with pleasure. It took you a few seconds to register where you were and then you remembered. Motel. Chibs. Couch. You glanced over to the bed and saw Chibs was still soundly asleep, sprawled out, mouth open, snoring slightly. Before you knew what you were doing you had your phone out and you snapped a picture of him.
He looked too peaceful to wake up so you grabbed some tissue from the bathroom and a pen from your bag and scrawled a quick note. "Sorry to leave so early, but the early bird catches the worm. Thanks for the couch, you're a life saver".
You left it on the pillow and slipped quietly out the room. As you left you felt yourself missing his company already. You shook your head and reminded yourself you knew nothing about the man you just shared a room with.
“I like you. The sex is great. And when you’re not tearing apart every single moment we’re together, you’re actually a lot of fun. But no…I’m not gonna make up your mind for you.”
