idk if this is a young fan thing or new fandom culture but some of yall think fics are abandoned way too quickly. a few months or a year or two is not unusual to go without a fic update. sometimes fics take longer to write, other times writers have rl events, or maybe there's multiple fics and one gets more priority. there are tons of reasons for fics not to be updated every week or every month. it also isn't uncommon for people to come back and update fics after a number of years—ive read updates that took five, or ten years. people's lives change, but they still want to tell their stories. personally, i never consider a fic abandoned unless the author has said so; though if it's been a few years i manage my expectations. but a last update being a year ago is... generally not a sign that a writer has abandoned their fic
That! Exactly that!!! Writers have lives and writing is hard! It takes time. Stop assuming fics are abandoned!
Original fic usually goes through this same process before being commercially published. Readers just don't know that bc they aren't receiving it in bite-size chunks online. Large periods of stagnant writing are historically just another Monday for most writers.
This☝️.
Okay, I might be pulling this out of my ass but since that finals match was in Evermore that means the foxes should have been wearing their white away jerseys. Which means: the final match was a game of chess.
Not only are they wearing white, but they have first serve (Dan won the coin toss), and near the end the Foxes' king (Neil, because this is a battle between Riko and Neil) changes positions with the tower (Matt, a defenseman that towers over most people) creating the illusion of a castling.
And right there at the end, Riko attempts to kill Neil because they're in front of each other, but that's not how kings work. In the time it takes him to take that step, Andrew closes the gap and strikes. Check mate.
HELL NAAA
chainsaw being a metaphor for ronan's heart and only knowing one name, which is adam's is so dear to me. she doesn't even call ronan ronan, but she does call adam 'atom'. ronan's heart only knowing one name, and thus, only loving one person ever, is so beautiful. given adams lack of love during his childhood, no other human could have given him what he needed (aka blue, or gansey romantically), im so glad adam and ronan are endgame and get married!
I hate hate haaaaate this culture of toxic productivity. I wake up before 5am every day, i go to work for 8 hours (10 if i also count the time i spend commuting), if all i want to do when i get home is sit and stare at the wall, it's my prerogative. I pay my bills on time, i support myself by myself, i work out, i clean, do enough, jfc. I'm allowed to not do anything else if i don't want to. I hate feeling guilty for spending an afternoon on my couch. And i hate it if people make me feel guilty for this.

Just a quick note from your friendly neighborhood bookworm/indie author
if you use kindle for the majority of your library, they will be shutting down the function that allows you to download your files and transfer them via USB on the 26th of February. Which doesn't sound like a huge deal, but this also means that if a book is taken off Amazon for any reason—like it being banned—they can scrape it off your kindle as well. So maybe backup your library?
How to Download Your Kindle Books (with screenshots)
From your Amazon homepage, click "Account & Lists" then click "Content Library"
Click "Books"
Find the book you want to download and click "More actions"
Click "Download & transfer via USB"
Click the button next to your device, then click "Download"
That's it! Your book file is now downloaded to your device. To my knowledge there isn't a way to bulk download everything, which means that your have to download books individually. (If anyone knows how to download multiple books at a time, please let me know!)
I use the free software Calibre to organize my ebook files. This video gives a good basic overview of how to download your ebooks from Amazon to Calibre, and also goes over how to use Calibre to transfer your ebooks to Kobo. I recently got a Kobo and have slowly been transferring my ebooks to it, and it is actually pretty easy!
If you're looking for ways to get ebooks without supporting Amazon, check out Smashwords, Bookshop.org, or see if your favorite author/publisher sells ebooks directly from their website.
Go forth and read!
