From what I have learned from google is that it depends if they are carved or not. the pumpkins i mean, and also factors like weather play a part as well, as warm climate can make the pumpkin spoiled sooner. 3-5 days is your best bet if carved.

I don't think it is too early, twinkle lights are fun at all times and not just for the holidays. I don't know much about pumpkins so you might want to ask Google for that one.

Santana wrinkled her nose a little - pride was hard to come by when all she could think about were her friends doing things in the real world. Just one more semester, one bar exam, and she could finally leave the books behind. "Going for my law degree," she answered in a rare moment of candor. Drinking made her chatty. "Hopefully will end up in civil rights - I'm already doing a public service by putting myself through this crap. I just really want to help the world suck a little less for the average loser. Go Bruins." She scowled at the notion that this stupidly wholesome stranger would be trying to take care of her. "Wow, very sweet, very charming. I have no intentions of making a telenovela with you. Y'know I don't swing your way, right?" she said loftily, taking another sip of her drink before offering her cup to him. It was a wonder she didn't spill on either of them. "I'm Santana. You should probably get me some bread."

Sam held up his hands, shell wobbling slightly, and gave a bright laugh. “Okay, okay. No telenovelas, promise. I know very little Spanish anyway." He shifted his weight, scanning the crowded room, then met her eyes again. "Civil rights is seriously impressive. You’re out here saving the world one case at a time, and I’m just… well, being a Ninja Turtle and trying not to trip over my own shell — or anyone else. I think it's really cool." He held her cup carefully, then pulled back a little, a blush creeping up his neck. “And, don’t worry. I swear I'm not hitting on you or anything. I mean, I honestly didn't know but I just like helping people too. And I've got my eyes on someone else anyway." She was a stranger, so surely it wouldn't hurt to vaguely mention that. "But you know my helping is more every day stuff, not anything that requires a courtroom." Sam offered his arm to her in a kind gesture. "they have a bunch of little sandwiches in the dining room. not sure what's in them but maybe they're decent?"

Sugar nodded sagely as the man agreed with her about the Croc heels, glad that they were on the same page and she wouldn't need to waste her energy educating him on why exactly he was wrong. "I'll take the fancy heels every time." She replied at the suggestion that the comfort would be worth it. "I want to look good when I go out, no matter what. Fashion is art, and Crocs are like... the opposite of that."

"So how many of you are there?" She asked, curious about the group. Her new friend Kitty had already pointed out one Turtle, but she wondered how many more of them there were wandering around. Despite what he said, it really didn't seem like it would that popular a costume. "My hubby is Sebastian." She said, plastering on a smile. Seb did treat her right, that wasn't up for debate. The two of them had a great relationship, it just wasn't the relationship everyone else thought they had. "He's here tonight, he's dressed as the captain guy from Wicked." She added, glancing around the room for him. She didn't know much about the film, it wasn't her vibe, but Sebastian looked good in his costume, and not embarrassing, which is really all that mattered. "What about you? Do you have a Mrs Ninja Turtle with you?"

"They could be art to... someone," Sam supplied with a small laugh. "I'm an artist. Well, aspiring, I guess. I dunno. I freelance, but mine is more drawing and not like something fashionable. The only time I look halfway stylish is when Blaine helps me out. He's definitely got it down to an art." Nope, definitely no Mrs. Ninja Turtle. There was a Mr. Ninja Turtle that had his heart, but it wasn't like Sam could say that aloud, so he just shook his head, cheeks flushing as he caught himself steal a glance at Blaine across the room. "There's four of us. Tina is the only lady in our bunch but she and I are just good friends. But she's really awesome."

Sam's grin brightened in recognition at her husband's name. "Oh, I met him! His costume is great. Even if he didn't appreciate my Guy Fieri joke when I couldn't remember his character's name. But I think he warmed up to me when I owned my lack of pop culture. I don't know too much about Wicked except what others have filled me in on. And the songs, but those are catchy as hell," he admitted with a chuckle. "You didn't want to come as Glinda or Galinda or whatever her name is?" he asked, curiously. "Although i personally prefer Princess Mia myself."

"It is a crime against humanity." Sugar agreed emphatically. "I mean, look at these." She reached for her clutch bag to grab her phone. After all, her designer gown most certainly didn't have pockets. She quickly headed to her browser to search for pictures of the offending, and offensive, shoes. "Look at these." She said in disgust, flipping her phone around to show the man. "So gross. People really have no taste."

"I don't know what Ninja Turtles are but sure, makes sense." She agreed, mainly as a platitude. "I think I've seen some other people in the same costume though. Is it a really popular costume or are you all like, together?" Sugar asked. "And well, duh. I wouldn't be dressed as her if she wasn't one of the best. Not everyone has been treating me like that but it's fine, I have my husband to treat me like a queen." She added, wishing that she could truly mean that in the way it sounded.

Sam leaned over to get a closer look at the phone, eyes widening slightly. “Oh wow… yeah, that’s… definitely a crime against humanity. I mean, Croc heels?” He shook his head with a grin. “Some things should just be banned, no debate. Of course, there's a part of me that is curious if they're so comfortable that they're worth the crime. Would you rather your feel like like they're on a cloud, or wear some fancy heels that kill your stride?”

He tapped his shell lightly. “And yeah, the Ninja Turtle thing —Leonardo, specifically. Totally popular, but we did plan it together. Me and a few of my friends. I can't believe you've never heard of them though. They've been around for decades now.” Sam nodded at her last comment with a soft, understanding smile. “Sounds like you’ve got someone treating you right, and that’s the important part. So, who is your night in shining armor, princess?”

you'd be surprised. they're three - almost four - and seven. the seven year old is gone at school a lot of the time now, so during the day it's usually just me and the three year old, until his sister gets home. ...not that it makes things any less quiet, though. he's definitely an active little guy.

“And it’s like—“ Santana paused to take another sip of her second (or was it her third?) cup of jungle juice of the night. “I’ve been in school for so long I don’t know how it’s gonna be once I’m out.” She hiccuped and her shoulders shook a bit from it. She was in over-sharing territory. Dangerously close to weepy over-sharing territory at that. With her free hand she twirled one of her fake braids anxiously. “I can’t shake this feeling that I wasted the hottest years of my life in the library.”

“Wasted? No way. I barely survived high school, and I don't have too much to show for not going to college. Not that I probably would have done well with it either. But you should be proud! I'm sure it will be worth it. What are you studying?” Sam gave a little shrug. “And hey, there’s plenty of time to make the next chapter way more fun. You seem like a pretty adaptable person. At least from what I can tell.” His smile and gaze softened as he noticed the glassiness in her eyes. “Just… maybe slow down on the jungle juice before we end up reenacting a soap opera scene, okay? Wanna get some food in you? I'm Sam, by the way.”

"... Does the world need saving from gluten?" Sugar asked bemusedly. Though this was LA and there was a good chance that the majority of the room would disagree with her on that one. "There are much worse things out there than gluten. Sample sales which run out of your size first, men who think socks and sandals are acceptable and anyone who wears Croc heels." She joked. "A ninja what?" She asked, unfamiliar with any kind of ninja animal really. "I'm supposed to be a princess but I guess I'm both." She grinned. "But officially I'm Princess Mia from Princess Diaries 2."

Sam blinked at her list like she’d just revealed the true villains of the world. “Okay, yeah — sample sales running out of your size? That’s way worse than gluten. I can’t fight that kind of evil,” he said, hands up in surrender. “And Croc heels? I didn’t even know that was a thing. That’s… that’s a crime against humanity.” He pointed to his shell. “I’m a Ninja Turtle. Like… mutant turtle, ninja skills, eats pizza. Basically the perfect life.” He paused. “Well, until the walking part. The shell’s not really ergonomic.” Sam's face lit with recognition. “Princess Mia! Okay, that I know. She's definitely one of the best Disney princesses if you ask me. Has everyone been treating you like royalty here?”

Sugar looked over at the new arrival, her eyes running over the costume. She didn't know what it was supposed to be, but it looked a lot like the one that the other guy had been wearing, the guy that the blonde girl (Kitty, since she now knew her name) had pointed out to her. "What exactly are you saving the world from? I hope it's nothing dangerous if walking is difficult for you."

Sam straightened the plastic shell on his back and gave her an earnest nod. “Oh, I’m absolutely saving the world from evil and gluten, mostly,” he said, like it was an official mission. “But walking is only difficult because this shell wasn’t designed with gravity in mind.” He glanced down at his feet, then back up with a sheepish grin. “Turns out being a ninja turtle is harder than the cartoons made it look. your costume is mega fancy. Are you supposed to be a rich person, or a princess?”

no, they're good kids. they have their bad days, sure, but doesn't everyone? for the most part, they're well-behaved, and they seem to like me, so we get on okay usually. plus, they've been a really welcome distraction through everything.

oh, really? that's so cool. i definitely want to play now. maybe it'll inspire us both to get out there and try pursuing the voice acting business. who knows, maybe it'll be our calling.

i took one back in high school - it's helped a lot with getting nanny gigs, i think. really? i didn't know video games had famous people in them. or that people became famous from them. i guess it makes sense, though, there are some famous voice actors out there for tv and stuff. i always thought it'd be kind of cool to do something like that. i'd love to play it with you sometime - you just have to promise not to make fun of me if i'm really bad at it.

I mean I could but I think I'd prefer to use the space for something else and not waste body real estate on a dot. Oh no, not at all. Some of my tats were definitely chosen on the fly. No I don't think it's a worse pain, you could totally handle it. I don't actually have an ass tattoo but if that ever changes then I'll get back to you. My upper back ones probably hurt the least.
