Okay so I've been preaching to all of my friends lately that Lord Shen from Kung Fu panda 2 is a transmasculine black shoulder peahen and I need to know your thoughts on this

I think that you should headcanon anything you want, regardless of what anyone else thinks (including me). Far be it from me to inform your dreams, continue to preach! You could make an argument that Lord Shen is a red buff (which shows best on hybrid purple BS hens), because red and white, but I think a plain white hen fits better because he has no body markings. But he's got dark feet, which actually means possibly he's a pied with a lot of white markings. Or else he's bleaching his feathers, but he's got a light beak so *shrug* I can't really speak for color- there isn't a color that fits all of his characteristics, but white comes closest.

If you want to make an argument about him being transmasc presenting, just have a look at the character design

I'll give them some wiggle room for character design, but this is just. not how peacock trains work. The train is made of back and tail coverts, it's not a tail. It doesn't start that low. It could not be held against the ground like that. On top of that, there's no sword feathers, and no frame feathers, and the feathers of his train themselves are.... well, feathers. They have vanes and barbs, not hurls. Those are not peacock train feathers.

What I'm saying is, the train is fake.

And since there's no evidence of a real train, that means Shen's either plucking the feathers out (unlikely but possible, but it seems like a lot of work and pain to then just go make one out of ???) or doesn't have them (and he's clearly old enough to have one, he's not a teenager). If I had to guess, I would say he doesn't have them.

Which is a pretty good argument.
