sami groaned as chachi hugged him, and after a moment reached an arm around to pat her back. “hey, i missed you, too -- yeah, i was. between hospitals and the palace, anyway. i’m a lot better than i was.”

@samillama
sami groaned as chachi hugged him, and after a moment reached an arm around to pat her back. “hey, i missed you, too -- yeah, i was. between hospitals and the palace, anyway. i’m a lot better than i was.”
“isn’t that what eye contact mans? that you wanna talk to someone?” sami’s brows furrowed together, and he then shrugged. he was a bit taken back by her question -- he knew he wasn’t exactly a people person, but he’d never been straight out questioned about it. “i mean -- people suck, dude... dudette? i don’t know -- i don’t like dealing with anyone if i can avoid it.”
“you’re fine, babe -- i understand,” that was one of the things that made sami angry about being as sick as he was, for as long as he had been -- he wasn’t able to be with liberty as much. “yeah, she told me you tried coming by -- she said no for a good reason, though,. i don’t wanna get you sick,” he sighed. “i can’t believe i missed our anniversary, too -- just my luck, i guess.”
“yeah -- my birthday and mine and my girlfriend’s anniversary, so that’s great,” sami knew liberty understood, but he till couldn’t help but feel bad. and maybe curse his immune system because of it, too. “i did, yeah, my parents sent me some stuff, so -- i can’t really complain too much,” he shrugged. “okay, good, i don’t feel as bad, then -- thanks, man. at least i can celebrate now, i guess.”
“celebrate? eh, i guess,” sami shrugged. he wasn’t exactly thrilled with the idea of buying overpriced drinks at some bar to celebrate another year of life, but then again, he supposed that was the thing people did. he sniffled again, pulling a handkerchief out of his pocket and blowing his nose. “you got any ideas?”
“i can’t believe i was too sick to get out of bed on ym birthday, sami grumbled, leaning back in his seat and wiping his running nose with the back of his sleeve. “but, hey -- i’m 21 now, i can legally buy alcohol, so that’s a thing now,” he shrugged, and then sighed. “okay, i’m sorry, i’m not really good at conversation -- that’s really all i’ve got.”
sami watched her, an amused expression on his face as she registered what had happened. he shook his head, shoving his hands in his pockets before leaning back against the wall again. “yeah, i saw -- but i’m not laughing at you, swear,” he began coughing again, bringing his arm up to cover his mouth, once he was done, he cleared his throat and spoke again. “i suck at making friends, too.”
queenie pretended to look at her phone for the fifth time in the past ten minutes. there were plenty of people around the courtyard, all standing with friends and talking and laughing and having fun. yet here she was, leaning against a wall with no one to talk to. she’d tried, of course, but either the timing had been wrong or she hadn’t said the right thing. pressing her lips together in a thin line, she looked at her phone for real this time, opening up google and typing in, ‘how to make friends’.
sami hadn’t been back in auradon long -- an entire day, actually -- and had found himself going on quite a few walks. he kept telling himself it was to re-familiarize himself with the school grounds, but he knew it was because he finally felt healthy enough to go outside and enjoy nature again. he stopped to lean against the wall, holding his arm up to his mouth as he began coughing. when he was finished, he stood up a bit straighter, shoving his hands into his pockets and looking around. he raised an eyebrow as he saw the person closest to him -- a girl -- type the most ridiculous thing he had ever seen into google. “hey,” he called over to her, biting back the smile on his face. “whatcha doing?”
“the fuck you looking at, bub??” eulalia barked. she drank from her flask ( which had nothing but water in it but who could honestly tell?? ). “damn people being disrespectful– hey, you’re about to catch these hands if you don’t stop staring and tell me what the fuck you want.”
sami raised an eyebrow, taking half a step back at the girl’s outburst -- he hadn’t been expecting that. “i mean... i just thought someone should let you know you’ve got a bit of food stuck in your teeth,” he motioned to his own mouth to show her where it was at. “you’re welcome, by the way.”
“ i am a great person. ” ( otto rip )
“i beg to differ,” sami scoffed,\ before turning to otto, an annoyed look on his face. “you’re kind of an asshole, but you do know that, right?”
@ottowhitex
“dictionary, schmictionary -- that’s what it means in this scenario, the textbook definition isn’t exactly relevant right now,’ sami raised an eyebrow, but bowed mockingly when otto clapped for him. “i try,” he shrugged. “i mean -- i’m not necessarily mean, i’m just not nice, you feel me?”
( @big-apples-liberty )
“so... are you sure you wanna do this? it’s not too late to turn back now,” sami followed liberty off the plane, both his hands on the railings. he was happier than he thought possible to be on the ground again, however he was equally unhappy to be back home -- and he was more nervous than he was willing to let on about his parents finally meeting liberty. “i’m sure we could find another flight and we could go to new york instead, wouldn’t you like that better?”
sami gave her hand a reassuring squeeze as they walked, listening to her intently. he wanted to do all he could to make chachi feel better -- and he hated how right now, all he could offer her were reassuring words -- but he was still prepared to do whatever he could do. “that’s the point of this, right? you can look at him, you see him get the punishment he deserves -- and when he gets locked up, he has no more power over you.”

@ottowhitex
“that’s... not how it works,” sami sighed. “better doesn’t mean positive, or ‘sunshine-out-the-ass’, whatever -- it means being a decent human being. which, you are not,” he leaned back, shrugging again. “i mean, you’re not wrong -- i’m not sorry, i was trying to be nice. i think.”
“ i was already calm, asshole. ” (Blane) hit ask limit RIP
five word sentences.
“doesn’t seem like it, asshole,” sami rolled his eyes while moving past him. “if you were already calm, then get over it already and come on.”
@blaneoftheseas
“i get that it’s your business -- i’m just observing,” sami shrugged and walked ahead of him. “come on,” he called over his shoulder. “we don’t have all day.”

“sounds a lot like an anger issue you need to get sorted out, but, okay,” sami rolled his eyes again -- he wasn’t sure why blane always seemed to be in a mood, but he didn’t feel like dealing with it. “can we just go, then?”

“you can be an asshole and still be great, sami,” he pointed out. “it just takes a little work, but i’m getting there, aren’t i?” otto asked, a shit-eating grin on his face.
“i mean... not really, no,” sami shook his head. “it would be different if you were actually trying to, what’s the word i’m looking for -- better yourself as a person, but -- it doesn’t really seem like you are,” he shrugged. “sorry, man.”
sami still held onto chachi’s hand after she got herself to her feet -- he figured she could use the support right about now. “if he gets let out on parole, then they have to let you know before he’s released so you can take the right protective measures -- so as soon as you hear something bout that, you file for a protective order -- got it?”
