to celebrate pride this year, i woke up my old lyric-writing brain and tried to channel the (famously single) musical legend, tom lehrer. i hope it's a sufficiently nerdy tribute!

i'm told that oscillators paired

will slowly change to tick in sync

and making one's intentions shared

can cause the face to flush with pink.

i'm told sparks fly each time you kiss her,

high voltage frying your resistors.

that's all and well for you my sister,

but i'm diamagnetic.

i've heard that forces feynman knew

can rotate folks head over heels

and make them do what straight folks do

to...recombine all their alleles.

i've heard that love will have one scribbling

alluring prose about ear nibbling,

and sure, that's great for you my sibling,

but i'm diamagnetic.

they say it's written in the stars,

red threads of fate run on and on,

and people only frequent bars

to find who their thread's tied upon.

but i'm not tied to anybody

(though magnetism is poetic)

and unlike those whose cheeks turn ruddy,

i've yet to fall for an aesthetic.

the laws of life and love are muddy,

so unlike newton's laws kinetic.

despite my countless years of study,

i'm still diamagnetic!
