1) lisa and amelia are both treated as dean and sam's "chance at an apple pie life." both women are very supportive of the boys' trauma and want to build a life with them, but whatever recent trauma each winchester has respectively gone through keeps them from fully committing. they end up leaving their significant other to hunt

2) where to start? john and castiel prefer to work alone and often think that their method of getting the job done is the best, regardless of the insistence of their friends/family who want to help. also, they both sacrifice themselves in a deal with a supernatural entity for their sons

3) getting niche. rowena and john both abandoned their kid(s) and left them with a slew of unresolved abandonment and relationship dysfunction. their sons want their praise and respect, while also resenting how they were raised

4) two arcs where a main character's solution to a war that they don't have the means to win is to harm themselves (and others) by consuming a supernatural essence that makes them powerful and corrupts them
