I know that pretty much all of the pirate gaster discourse is just a meme but I do think there’s something there

If gaster was a pirate I could see him being a sort of Davy Jones esque figure.

Davy Jones was a pirate who is said to command over the bottom of the ocean floor (the oceans depths if you will). Ships that sink at sea are said to end up in “Davy Jones Locker”.

Obviously there’s the parallel between Jones ruling the ocean depths and Gaster ruling the Deltarune depths (img_depths is literally just water).

There’s also the fact that we create a vessel (vessel also being a word for a ship) with Gaster in the depths. A vessel in the depths, like the ships in Davy Jones Locker.

Maybe the depths are a resting place for “failed” vessels? And that’s the reason Gaster has so many vessel parts to chose from? He salvaged them from dead vessels that ended up in the depths???

This all probably means nothing but I feel like there is something of actual substance to theorise over.

With every new chapter that releases I agree more and more with the decision to cut the intro that shows all the silhouettes of the chapters main villains. Like it would be really cool if the game released all at once but imagine if we knew for 7 whole years that ch5s main villain was human. We’d all think it was like Kris’ biological dad or something and then the chapter releases and it’s just Mr Jarona the darkner who decided he’d look like a human because fuck you. Imagine the online crash out lmao
