I’m sick of chronic pain.

Being in pain with no answers seems like a common thing for a lot of people including me. My joints hurt and my back gets so bad some days I can’t even get out of bed but I can’t do more to help them before physical therapy because of insurance. My stomach always is upset but the invasive test they said they would avoid didn’t tell them anything so it must be food sensitivity with no real answer and IBS. Pain in your abdomen? Maybe cysts but who knows have some birth control! Story of my life. This is the kind of “help” that almost always finds me with these things and I’m sure many others out there struggle finding good medical practices that actually care past a maybe or a it could be. It’s so frustrating and honestly awful for people like me with extreme fears connected to doctors and medical practice environments. When did doctors stop caring as much? When did it get so hard to get help and to get relief? Is this something I can get relief from? I don’t know- I hope it is.

Just finally figured out how to use the read more function on my own posts- legit thought it did that on its own- my b for super long rants with no read more-

Also like how else was I supposed to interpret this- it’s just a squiggle between two lines. Mobile doesn’t give me the like hover to see what each tool does feature- plus like ALL the other icons are super obvious.

Everyday I realize more and more that it’s not normal to constantly be in fear of things. It’s always the what ifs that pop up over the smallest things that make me sit there and wonder what it would be like to go on a trip without calculating a solution for every possible emergency problem that could possibly happen, overpacking and calling it my “mom friend instincts”

Finally realizing that fuck man- there is a difference between being prepared and whatever the hell this is.

Growing up my mother was a big reason this seemed so normal to me.

Field trip?

“Here is a list of every thing that could go wrong and all the things to avoid and what to do if this happens and make sure to take germ-x with you and here is a Facebook article about someone meeting a horrible fate at a place similar to the one you are going to.”

Feeling sick?

“Here is the Google article I read that said you are literally on your deathbed.”

Someone at school got sick and you were near them?

“Wash your hands over and over and over until you feel clean”

It started out as just me being like “oh she is just overprotective” to me fretting about it the whole trip. To it spreading into everything. Her crazy overprotective became my obsession I have had to fight with for so many things.

It spreads into daily things like;

Unplugging lamps instead of just turning them off because of the fire hazard. Searching for any items that might have lithium batteries for a full day and tearing apart my room to find them because of one video that one exploded in. Beeping my car twice because it is only locked if it beeps twice in succession. Brushing my teeth every morning and night without fail because skipping one time makes me think my teeth will fall out. Etc

The routines grow longer. The packing lists get longer. The spirals last longer. Everything is longer.

to whomever needs to hear this if any of this sounds familiar:

It is not normal to live in fear. It is not normal to feel like you have to prepare for every trip as if something will go wrong. It doesn’t have to be normal. I’m learning this too. Heck I still have a hard time believing it 90% of the time and just by writing this out I am admitting that I do have a problem. Thats okay. You’re okay. We are okay.

Oh what I would give to live in an older historic home I could dress up in the most wonderful array of plants, Greek and Roman decor and antiques. Is a home full of history and whimsy that isn’t a farmhouse or a minimalistic white and grey lifeless blah too much to ask for? I want pretty wallpaper, and paintings, and decor that makes you feel warm and comfortable. Manifesting a whimsical future please

So Epic the Musical never claimed to be a completely accurate retelling of the Greek myths and I do I have my opinions on some portrayal but it does one thing that 90% of these retellings don’t. Passion.

You can see that each character was thought out. Every song was tested and planned. Every interaction was written with a story in mind. The missteps in accuracy are not detrimental and don’t directly change the story completely and honestly most of the parts that were taken out for this musical were taken out simply for the fact that Jorge didn’t have time to go into 1,001 odd details and side plots if he wanted the musical to be a length that would be adaptable to something else in the future.

Not to mention some of the topics in the original myth are very controversial for our current culture and if portrayed even slightly wrong or leaning a specific way could cause big problems I am sure he didn’t want to tackle.

As a theater, Greek mythology, music and story telling nerd I think this was just the right amount of accurate to be a great retelling that could stick with a lot of people.

Also like on the inaccurate side of things If Odysseus had been portrayed 100% accurate a big chunk of the fandom would have either hated him or excused his mistakes btw. This is what makes him so fascinating to read about imo. This man only cared about HIS family, and even that wasn’t enough for him once he returned in the original myth. He would have done ANYTHING to get himself home which we can see somewhat in epic but it’s SOOOO much worse in the original myth.
