might consider the goverment system of spirale city to be actually worse then his own considering that everything has no will of the people thing going on nor can their monarchs be reached for questioning.

"I'm in. What do I have to shoot?"
Her eyes are sharp and her fingers are twitching. This should be a breeze, she thinks.

Its clearly a booth where balloons are laid out, and bullets can ricochet into other balloons. Can you do it?

hannibal observes with increased attention the masterful cuts, the man's prowess with a knife not being unclear to the psychiatrist. if batlin doesn't live alone currently ( a difficult feat, as everyone is assigned roommates upon arrival ), then it might be a sign he did before. either that, or he has been tasked with cooking for the other members of his family.

A child left alone, is not something he would say but thats how it went. At the very least those who were from the church were treated better then most people within the village.

a smile's offered as hannibal rolls up his sleeves swiftly, with the familiarity of someone who'd done that same action again and again. he brings out a sauce pan, puts it on the stove. " i'm fascinated by your horns. so life-like, similar to a ram's. are they real? "

living alone for so long, his cuts are neat and tidy to save up space and time as he grabs a apple and cuts it with master strokes. his grip on the knife natural. Of course as a adult, its natural, but as a child, well there were questions that were asked. but a father who could not prepare their own child for their deaths is a poor one, and his father was not poor in that area alone.

questionable to begin with, Batlin just shrugs inwardly and follows. after all there is nothing better with dealing with stress, then drinking loads of cheap alcohol.
"Well, lets go. I"ll treat first round if thats fine with you."

Elminster chuckled, having likely stopped to listen to the man grandstand. He didn't have the the same passion for this place that his horned talking companion did, but that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy the clear show of interest. In all honesty, while this place was rather extreme, it did have a polish that was to be admired. "And once again you prove my point about speaking- were I a prospective introductee to this wild place, I would be filled with wonder at the prospect of learning more here." He chuckled, leaning against his wooden sword as a makeshift cane. "Ah, but to know that there are others glad to be here, perhaps that speaks leagues about how this place is not malevolent. Indeed, perhaps the people, or things, that bring us here have no feelings about our insignificant lives at all." El bowed his head, gently patting the other on the back. "You never need look for a more studious man than Elminster Aumar, my boy!"

sure the governemnt system is different, but in the end the higher ups can only be so near the problem before they back out, or ignore it outright. the mental woes of those who need to go back home, are ignored until it suits them.

surprise takes hannibal's expression at the sight of the visitor at his door, rememberance rushing to his mind ; right, he no longer resided in his own private estate but somewhere easily reachable by others, much to his chagrin. still, even if displeased by recalling said fact, he meets his neighbor with a smile, small.
" i believe it does. good morning. " and a too early one ; hannibal is out of his usual formal apparel and in a red sweater, hair tossled by sleep. even in his current state of remaining morning tiredness, hannibal reaches for the fruit's container with slightly widened eyes, delighted surprise kept polite, collected.
" you come baring gifts, i see. how kind of you! i'm at a loss .. i have not had time to buy gifts, having arrived a mere day ago. " after a moment, he stands back, holds the door open. " have you eaten yet? i'm preparing my first meal of the day, and there is enough for two. perhaps that can be my side of this trade. "
"that's very kind of you, I would love to. Since my plans, I believe all our plans for the future are put on hold since we all arrived."
a sensible way of saying kidnapped, and a glib tongue, eloquent with. the charisma of someone who is used to giving speeches like a champ.
"I could help with peeling the fruits, since it is. admitedly the only food I am familiar with." A offer, one that can be refused but said with politeness because as much of a rising free spirit he is becoming with every passing day not under the church boot... he still had manners, raised by the church since his father died. His horns glinted in the sun , highlighting them.

house 103 and 104 were neighbors by one unit, and so Batlin had come bearing gifts of apples and fruits because thats all he could afford on his own dime. the life of a crier did not make much money to begin with, and he's not sure on how to get more of it in this city.
"Albus Batlin, a pleasure to meet you."
"A flatterer, eh? Why, you know how to make a man a thousand years old feel like he's only eight-hundred!" El chuckled, shaking his head. "Ah, my days of dodging are long gone- while it is possible that I can flee from the attack or even attempt a parry, it would not be my strongest weapon in my arsenal." El showed off the wooden sword going through his belt- no doubt he once held a much more majestic sword of importance, but this place being what it is, his options are understandably limited. "An igniter?" He stroked his beard, pondering as the two moved about. "The only igniters I know of are fire-starters! Of course, not all magic can be done with simply word of mouth or a few points with a staff or wand- many more powerful magics require the use of items- from the most expensive diamond to a humble marble ball, enterprising wizards are trained to keep all that they need to cast spells in their component pouch."
"Well then, I would be a poor crier if I didn't have the nice word or several on my tongue at any time. After all, the public care not listen to a bearer of only bad news."
"Why think of this city! Technology that no one has ever seen before , a sight to behold. All wonders that sparkle the curiosity within the mind. It is the city of utter fiction made manifest!"

Yet I do not despair, for every day I feel it returning to me. For now, I possess the ability to shield myself from harm- a simple enough spell to learn, but a useful one all the same."

Well, what was one fib over another, in any case Batlin is one who is always on the move. his technique to simply dodge everything was one that was handed down to him by his fellow criers.
"But you truly could use magic without a igniter? will wonders never cease. Not everyone could use magic where I come from, those who can usually can afford it."
Jim looks at the man , blinking a few times. He doesn't know whether to be flattered at the compliment or surprised by the fact that he of all people looks like he knows what's going on.

But the boldness was enough to intrigue him , and it's not like he has anything better to do.

"I certainly dabbled in some magic , had a few igniters. But combat was never really my thing. My tongue for better use among the masses, spreading good and factual information. Though as far as I got, a good cooking fire is certainly useful on the spot."
"Well, new companion, you certainly look the type to dabble in a bit of magic yourself. How good are you with it?" he thinks he has the whole appearance dab tight.
"Oh of course I do! You might as well call me Pub Master Kikuri if ya' really want."
It wasn't her nickname in the slightest bit. But she made it up on the spot and sounded pretty legit. Depending on who the recipient of the nickname was that is...
"Should be one right down this street. Though its pretty hard to see, right in the middle of of a few other big places."
"While helpful, a more detailed explanation would be nice. unless you truly mean its such a tiny building that everything around is rather...large."

A dry throat with a crier is a cry for attention, if at least to save his most useful part.
