Experimenting with RGB colours on Photoshop and creating an Illusion of Movement and in this instance a Very famous Dunk by Michael Jordan in the NBA Dunk Competition in ‘87
Inspired by my Heinz Beans tin I have started to do the Harrogate bottle in the same format this is part way done and upon completion I shall post the final outcome
Unit 4- colour response
My made surfaces have been done and will get mounted. I have picked out a few that where the best and the ones that I liked. Obviously I like all the surfaces I have produced but some outshine one another for its individual qualities.
The images I've selected
- Charred and weathered
- Rust-stained
- Rainforest
- Old lead
Reading this David Carson book helping understand textures and surfaces that relates to my unit. Reading this can help advance my Graphic skills as once I have made my textures I could explore it in Photoshop and have expand my graphic design skills like he has done
Unit 1- still life part 2 (Evaluation down below)
This was my coloured graphic of the Heinz beans tin, that I had done and made a bigger version of it and turned out really well with difficulty.
The difficulty of the was applying the tabs this was very annoying and fidgety as once I had glued down one side the other side was difficult to put in place. So I cut the some of the tabs to allow the the lid to sit flush on the bottom of the cylinder and the problem was solved.
Unit 1- Still Life Part 2 (Print)
In this I focused on the print section, for this the inspiration came from my lanyard that I did previously.
I took the idea from the coloured lanyard and replicated the step by step process from that. This was a lengthy process as I needed to remove the colours each time to allow the overlap of colours to happen, but apart from that that was the only tedious part whilst doing this.
Strengths- added the detail together to make it distinctive that is a Heinz beans tin
Weakness- not all details were picked up whilst printing this could be due to the fact that the ink dried up quickly.
Unit 1- still life part 2
Evaluation down below:
Making the net of the Beans tin inspired by the lanyard net.
This process was a very fun and a practical job to undertake, I was first confused as how the net was assembled, as I thought it was assembled portrait and not landscape my design was wrong and assembly was not the best
I had to re print my design and do it the correct way and this was very easy once I had put it together, the only tedious job was applying the tabs to the top and bottom as the paper was very fiddly.
Next time I will print a bigger size in colour to show contrast to the black and white net and to the real life tin.
Unit 1- Exploring a digital method on my own still life
For this process there will be a Step by step in my book on how i made it, this was made using Photoshop and just using the tools on there to create the Heinz bean tin in Andy Warhol style like he did with the Campbell soup tin.
I think there could be an improvement with this to get it more like his work, one of this would be that he has inverted the colors with his back ground to get the contrast between the image and the colour behind it, this is something i could do to refine what i have done.
The best part about this picture is the level of detail I have managed to capture and made it look like the real thing which I’m happy about.
Unit 4
Task 1- Pinterest images of colour wheels
Task 2- my own colour wheel
Task 3- Using coloured pencils to create my own custom colour wheel
Unit 1
For my own still life I have chosen to do the Heinz beans can, from the images I have used the techniques that I have learnt previously with my lanyard and also phone drawings to make it these in include:
- Normal drawing
- Drawn to scale drawing
- Wrong drawing
- Continuous line drawing
- No look drawing
- Combination of left hand and continuous line
The best out of the 6 drawings for me would be the left hand drawing as this shows the best outline of the Beans Tin that I had drawn, However I would also say that the Contiuous line is close as the best aswell
Weakest drawing out of the 6 would be the the first one I had drawn which is the normal drawing, this is due to my measurements for it looks wrong and also the faint lines gives it a mundane Look which makes it the weakest.

Unit 14- making a sample of medal using applique
This is process took 2 lesson to complete 1 making it and choosing the material and then the next lesson to put it together. For this I used a sewing machine to complete it, I'm comfortable with using one now so it took 40 mins to go over it and secure with the black thread. It was good fun to put it together and now moving on to fabric paint and crayons to create a medal
Unit 3- sample of Sean scully
I wanted to create something that related to the urban environment with Sean scully's work as he uses 4-5 colours for his own work it was hard to do it like that. So what I did was the same thing created a background that shows his way of working trying to keep the limited palate, and then on top I printed out my primary images to stick down for a collage so it could link to the urban environment.
Overall the process was good fun and a learning curve to get round a problem and make it work as a sample.
unit 3- my sample of looking and making an image in the style of Patrick Caulfield
Unit 1 visual recording and communication
Process making the ink and stick drawing of the lanyard really fun to make all these different styles of lanyards really good experience.
Unit 1 visual recording and communication
Images taken to show my process of how I made my Georgina Luck inspired lanyard wanted to keep as much of the messiness of the colours on the lanyard as I could
Unit 1 visual recording and communication
Process of me making the continuos line Layard that I drew.
Unit 3 Oliver creative process-
Creating a sample of Lucy Jones works using my primary photos
