besides being white probably one of the most egregious things tbb has done is retconn the clones as a whole. just a complete 180 on their morals and values so the writers could justify giving special white boys an underdog story that makes literally zero sense

the clones in literally all other media: loyalty and duty over appearance. unique skills and unorthodox fighting methods are rewarded. great efforts taken to individualize themselves with what little they have. given nothing, gave everything. always respect one another, even with massive differences in ideas or ideology. always supported one another regardless of ability or skill. brothers to the end.

the clones suddenly when tbb is around: looks are everything. if you fight weird you're weird but also really impressive for thinking a little bit outside the box. always look the same no matter what (and bully the ones that look different). somehow given even less while also somehow giving less (than tbb). zero respect for one another. skill and ability the number one important facts to determine someone's worth (and having lots of skills or abilities is automatically a bad thing). brothers conditionally.

Relatedly  

 I hate that we went from the finale of The Clone Wars, were Rex was able to fight the chip for just a few seconds.  He was able to fight because of Fives and because of his friendship with Ahsoka.

And in doing so, it lead to both himself and Ahsoka living.   And it sucks that they couldn’t save anyone else, but it still MEANT something that he was able to fight.

 In the Bad Batch: oh, they are just very special boy who were not impacted at all!!(well, until it’s narratively convenient)  So very special!! So much better than all those other gross “regs” you JUST saw die.  In fact, why are you even sad about them dying?  They were BULLIES!!! And they deserve to be mind tortured!!!  

  I’m not going to say it ruined TCW finale, because that is silly.  But, It does a little bit away from Rex being able to fight though it.

an odd thing about Any Way the WInd Blows is Simon’s confused reaction to Baz’s post-breakup state.  

Like, dude... are you really thrown from your emo-ass boyfriend having an emo-ass reaction to the breakup?   What did you think he was going to do?

Baz not wearing a suit to spite his father was one of my favorite moments of Snow for Christmas.  

 And.. I did a google for “purple and gold trousers” to get an idea about what his pants looked like, and this is the first result..

So, in my head, this is 100% what he wore. and he looked great in them.

Finally started on season 3 of Superman & Lois

People being excited for a slideshow is the most unrealistic thing I have seen on this show

I really want read a story about Simon and Fiona having to work together

There is the obvious reason of having to rescue Baz. But… I kind want something a little more light. Like, idk, planing a surprise party together? Or maybe they think he’s lost but he’s just napping in some untraceable woods? (….This is why I don’t write fan fiction)

Really I just want to see them being forced to interact with each other The scene where Simon is hiding behind Baz is one of my favorite. I can visualize that scene so well I almost forget I read it and didn’t watch it 

And, I don’t want them to get along in the end because I know she kinda suck. (Really sucks, she is horrible)

But, I just can’t hate person who wants to put her shit in the Mage’s bed.

So since Rex basically started the rebellion… what the hell HAPPENS that he gave up in favour of hiding with Gregor and Wolffe on Seelos?!

Because it would take a lot for him to give up. He went from fighting a war to immediately fighting against the people he fought with to save his brothers. It would take a lot to have him step down from fighting, at this point. So. What the hell is this A Lot that makes him take off?

 I’ve been thinking about this a lot.   Another thing to consider is that the Empire KNOWS they are there.  When Wolffe calls them to rat out the Ghost Crew, they mentioned that he has called multiple times before.   

And, there is just no way that the Empire would keep Rex alive if they knew he was in charge of the rebellion.   And, like you said he would never choose to stop fighting.     

My theory is that Echo takes the blame for the rebellion and is killed, maybe along with a good amount of clones.  and that is what makes Rex stop?   

I really don’t know.  and I need a season 3 because I don’t think we will get that answered in the last 2 episodes.

Spoilers for Bad Batch

Still such an odd show, everything with the regular clones is so good and interesting. But, title characters don’t seem to really give a shit.

And that’s not necessarily wrong of them. They have a child to take care of, after all. And she deserves a childhood they didn’t get.

And them finding a safe place to settle down might be the closest this show can get to a happy ending.

I know there are some optimistic folks who think that the Clone rebellion won’t end in a massive tragedy…but I’m just not seeing how that is possible at the moment.

But, it’s still a bit annoying to see how little Hunter, Wrecker, and Tech seem to care about the other clones. And it makes them a bit hard to root for.

Sure, they’ll probably end up saving some do the clones on Mount Tantiss, it that more of a “I guess we’ll do that while we’re here” situation

A bunch of other random thoughts about the last 3 episodes.

- Stunning stormtroopers seemed like an odd choice at first, but it is a smart decision. Going in and just murdering them would put a larger target in their back

- more clones need to grow beards (grow yours back, Gregor!!)

-where the flippity flop is Cody??

- that little island town is nice, but them having a big earthquake the second the Batch arrived is a bit silly. Seems like they could have figured out another way to make them safe the day.

- yeah, Tech! Go get you some! More clones need to fuck!

-That one doctor is definitely another female clone. I just love that they are going all in with “New Zealand Accent = Clone”.

-and even though I think it is doomed to fail, it’s fun to see the clone rebellion growing (it would be nice to see more of it, but that not the show it is)

Wow it's almost like Echo never should've been on this show to begin with and always should've stayed with Rex and helped him and Ahsoka escape Order 66 because his chip didn't work or was removed because Echo had looked into what happened to Fives and then stuck with Rex to help build a rebellion in the FIRST PLACE.

It's almost like the writers clearly had exactly zero plans for what the fuck to even DO with Echo on this show and just consistently sidelined him for an entire season to focus on their A-team archetypes and mountain of cameos instead.

It's almost like Echo and Rex going out and saving clones was the clone-based show we SHOULD'VE gotten FROM THE BEGINNING.

@sandra-has-thoughts I mean on the one hand, I'm very glad Echo was able to be freed from this sinking tank of a show, Echo deserved better than this show from the START.

But on the other hand, it is IMMENSELY frustrating that instead of actually trying to DO SOMETHING with Echo that really meant something and explored his character, they just... found a way to write him off so they never have to think about him again. This show has never once given a flying shit about Echo, never utilized him to his fullest potential and usually just threw him in to make a joke about his disabilities and traumas.

Echo is also the ONLY character among the mains that we had any connection to prior to 2020. Echo was introduced in season 1 of TCW way back in 2008 and was part of the ever popular duo of Echo and Fives, so of course he had a small group of people who were invested in him more than all of the new characters surrounding him. And then he got completely ignored.

Like you said, you could remove him from every single episode of this show and nothing would change. He doesn't have relationships with ANY of the other characters, including Omega. He didn't have any personality, really, he never develops in any direction, his only special "skill" is just from the prosthetic arm he got from being tortured by the Techno Union rather than something inherent to him. He's not even used to help the main characters get over their prejudice against the real clones, he never once defends the other clones from TBB's stupid biases, never tries to insist they try to save the few they have to go up against, never tries to connect to any of them.

So yes, it's sad that he's being written off because people liked him from long before TBB was even a thing and he got so criminally misused by this show and then we were promised a really great storyline for Echo this season to make up for it and what we got instead was the writers giving up on him completely.

Echo deserves better than this, his fans deserve better than this.

The more I think about it, it’s almost funny that a main character left the show because he wanted to actually do something important and meaningful. Which is the show pretty much admitting that the Batch aren’t doing a damn thing 

I will never understand why they gave us show about a bunch of “clones” who do not give a tiny shit about clones, you know, those people we came to love after 7 seasons of The Clone Wars (I do give Omega major point for asking why the clones don’t have a rep in the Senate, good question!! )

“oh.. but the regs bullied them :(”   Maybe it’s because the Batch regularly acts like they are superior to them.    Maybe because they regularly watch their bother die again and again while they Batch seems to just do whatever they want.  

And Echo is a regular clone, the new member of the batch and a character we know.  He should have been the POV character from the start. We could have learned about the Batch through him.  But, the truth is, there is nothing to learn.  They are without real personalities, or motivations... or anything.  I can’t think of any other Star Wars show or movie where the main character don’t have any motivations at all.  

And yet.. I continue to watch because this show is the only way to learn what will happen with the clones and sometimes my boy Rex shows up.

Every time I remember that season four of Umbrella Academy will only be six episodes I get irritated.

Yes, a lot can happen in episode and maybe it will be enough but still…arg!

Bad Batch spoilers

Whenever Rex pops up, I have to add to the “how does he get from here to Rebels” math.

Like..I know the answer more than likely is “terrible sadness” but I’m not sure what equation will be to get there. Now Echo is in the mix? (Which, I’m happy about. Rex needs a partner).

My prediction right now invoices that clone assassin and Cody. Something extra clearly happened to that Clone. His ID code being removed is not a normal thing at all.

Was he a “true believer” or just a clone who got extra brainwashed into being on? I’m going with the latter and I think that’s what will happen to Cody and he didn’t really go AWOL.

So..Rex will end up having to kill Cody and that will end up being too much for him and he’ll peace the fuck out. (And Echo goes back to the Batch)

So there is almost no chance that Rex is not in Ahsoka. I’m willing to bet that they already filmed scenes back when Tem was filming Book of Boba

Now, what I can’t guess it how much he’ll be in it. It could just be one episodes.

My only real hope as is that they don’t kill him. And if they must, let him have a peaceful death. Let one clone die in a non-violent way!

Oh and one more hope: let him meet Boba! How long has it been since Boba met a clone. And if a Wolffe is dead, how long has it been since Rex seen a clone.

Or! Rex and Wolffe are still both alive and just chilling.

I’ve been spending to much time recently wonder how Rex goes from “I’m not going to stop fighting” to hiding out in a far off desert planet.

Like it has to be a tragedy, but it also has to be more than just a normal tragedy. The only thing I can think of is that he goes to try to save a bunch of clones and just ends up getting them killed. Because he’s seen his brothers die again and again and he kept going but if he is responsible for deaths, that might be when it becomes too much.

I just hope we actually get to see what caused the change and more importantly, it makes sense for who he is.

Intervention for Rex where a bunch of other clones who deserted surround him and keep asking him questions like "a lifetime of war doesn't sound awful to you? Who was it that told you that all you're good for is fighting wars for people whod spit on you and deny you your rights given half a chance? Why are you proud of only being made to die? Where is anyone arguing for your safety, fighting for your right to freedom from tyranny? What are you running from? What future exactly are you running toward? Is continuing to fight noble or tragic?"

Yes! I’m super worried that he’s going to die a violent death in  Ahsoka and that will be made to look like a noble thing.  Because he goes down fighting “like a solider should” or some mess.  

Boo to that I say.. BOOOO!!!

OH think goodness Umbrella Academy got renewed!!!  

Now I can think up theories without feeling like I’m somehow jixing it.  

  Can’t wait to see how it all ends...
