I can't begin to explain the horrors that transpire in these books. The mc is explicitly binghe's mother figure and prefaces his love confession with "if I was your mother, I wouldn't abort you". They do full time student-teacher roleplay like one of those 24/7 bdsm couples. I start shaking like a dog whenever I think about it. They haunt my nightmares

Alright in the manga. I see it as teru's one-sided crush. My ideal dynamic is a very specific roleswap au where they meet as dysfunctional adults, mob is a neet/teru is a cult leader, and teru's egotism and mob's avoidance feed into each other's flaws to make each other worse. And they're both women. Few are moving at my level ♟️🧠📈

Zelle - horror/adventure point and click game

short and sweet! love love loved the art and atmosphere. combat system was a little wonky but very quick/easy to retry. nostalgic and heavily reminiscent of 2000s flash point and click games and my old anime ocs. a very heartfelt story, i hope it gets more attention!!

side note: i loved the enemy designs so much. some of them were really creative and cool or genuinely freaky and sometimes a clipart rat with blood drawn on in mspaint popped up my screen

laughed out loud when i saw this guy. very cheesed to meet you sir. average nyc subway encounter

Z.A.T.O. - psychological horror visual novel

i love ZATO. i need more time to ruminate before i can accurately capture my thoughts about this game, but it carries a great deal of personal meaning. i think you will love ZATO too, if you play it. it's free and relatively short. play ZATO.

Baldur's Gate 3 - strategy rpg

I got this game because of the half-dragon mod so I could roleplay as Tarnished blood. The mod severely affected the balance of the game so most combat encounters were nil, but anyways i was there to play with my touys and still ended up having a great time. I love dnd and the way the combat system was adapted is very fun!

Okay enough playing around. Grabs your face in my hands. Listen to me. Karlach Cliffgate is wonderful and should be beloved nationwide. If studio larian knew what they were doing , they would put her in center of the logo, not that fraud flop industry plant Astarion.

despite my love for ace attorney, i haven't played ghost trick before now. shu takumi you sly bastard you got me again. a wonderful mystery story with extremely charming dialogue. im a huge animal/pet lover and i felt a lot of big feelings about this game uwahhhhhhhh. they grickrolled me.

Coquette Dragoon Vol 1 - yuri mecha visual novel

yay yay such well-written characters. i am deeply invested in these girls and the political intrigue/military-industrial complex horrors that surround them. when the author's obvious fetish is artfully woven into its themes!! so awesome. lots of screencaps because i love this vn. there are so many great moments idk what to put

the only mecha ive seen before is Eva so this may be baby's first metaphor but the intimacy between mech/pilot as an analogue to the adult body housing the vulnerable inner child or a pregnant mother protecting a developing baby is fun to chew on and realized to its full extent here lol. xio's perspective is easy to empathize with and offers thoughtful insight into the psychology behind agere/abdl. her introspection is very compelling to me as someone unfamiliar with these subcultures. may not be my fetish/coping mechanism but im here for it. not sure the right way to articulate it but i really appreciate the casual/humanizing way fetish is presented in the story. overall, really fantastic introspective writing and beautiful kemonomimi women with fat boobs. what's not to love. ayane and emil best girls.

Limbus Company - Dystopian Turn-Based RPG

mixed feelings. I have many thoughts, so this is long.

Not to soapbox but i hate gacha games on principal for being repackaged casinos (and i harbor a grudge after many big VN companies pivoted to the gacha format!). limbus is rated 18+ so purportedly they are not promoting gambling for children, though a large chunk of the fanbase are kids from roblox or something. regardless the system is predatory and a scummy business practice IMO

i really liked lob corp and LOR so i wanted to give Limbus a chance. At points the limbus story reaches some really high highs, but as a mobile/live service game the writing and pacing notably suffers. e.g. time-consuming battle filler nodes that completely disrupt the flow of the narrative, made to appeal to auto-battling mobile users. also huge gaps between the release of story content where there is nothing to do

the story is the highlight and what many players are here for. There are some great moments of characterization, and the presentation especially in later cantos is impressive. While writing is good overall, I found that LOR had a more consistent quality of writing. Obviously they have differ in narrative formats (character driven arcs vs. overarching storyline) but the limbus story sometimes drags or is a bit heavy handed/circular where LOR was concise. Also some arcs straight up did not work for me at all (canto 7)

the clashing system equates to bigger number = win. combined with the sanity system, with good rng on your first turn you can ensure the enemy never attacks and you can't ever lose. they attempt to fix this later on via more challenging boss fights + unbreakable coins, but early content and all non-boss fights in story mode are boring and require no thought or user input (by design, to make it easy to auto battle!). this system lacks depth and is fundamentally flawed

personally i also miss the greater emphasis on body horror/horror in general from earlier entries of the series. it definitely varies by canto. we do get some via the w train and the ring but i'm a #gurohead and i miss when they would show gore in the cgs. Show us some intestines you cowards!!!!! earn your 18+ rating!!!!!

Limbus adapted many elements from the combat system and structure from Library of Ruina, but IMO it is a step down from LOR in everything except presentation. divorced from my own moral hangups about gacha, I think some of limbus's problems are inherent to the gacha/live service mobile game genre (lack of combat depth/mindless filler). My problems and nitpicks would be easier to ignore if there weren't long droughts between content. I realize this mini-review is primarily critique but I am heavily invested in this series, hence the intense scrutiny. I do still enjoy playing it and love many of the characters but i wish they pursued a different game direction. Anyways KJH please use your piles of gacha money to release the distortion detection visual novel.

All that being said i am deeply fixated on tears of the tarnsihed blood hong lu. This is my cross to bear.
