Decided to actually post him after mentioning him in my last post. Mb for being a deadbeat Martín💔 and sorry to the only 2 fans of my omam OC🥹

Anyways here's some art +more info abt him n yada yada (most of these aren't up to date so expect the biggest style inconsistency you've ever seen)

You would think after all this time I was gone I'd be finished with his lore by now😂🤣😂🤣☹️ sorry to disappoint but it's still a wip...

But anyways! From my last post I wanted to talk abt his animal symbolism I didn't get to mention.

I made Martín represent the Taruca deer! Not only because it's a Peruvian deer, and obviously, my OC is from Peru, but to display that he's in a completely new environment that's entirely different from his original "habitat" [Culture], leaving him to feel displaced and vulnerable. I imagined how strange it would be for a deer originally from South America, would look compared to a North American deer such as the California mule deer. Just like Martín, being the only Latino on the ranch, compared to the white men. Deers are often depicted as skittish and wary, which resembles Martín's demeanor at the ranch. He attempts to stay in his place and is cautious around the other men, especially Curley. He avoids drawing attention to himself as best as he can. Despite that, he's awfully curious to explore his new surroundings and ends up finding interest with some people at the ranch (particularly Crooks, Lennie, Mae [Curley’s wife], & George)

In my art, I made Martín's antlers barley blossom to represent his adolescence. As young male deer mature, they often leave their herd and form a different group with other males. I found this fitting because of how early he lost his mother, leaving only him and his dad for a while. However, because he recently lost his father too, this signifies him being forced to mature without his guidance, leaving him completely alone with no "herd."

Yeah nobody in of mice and men is winning it was wraps from the start.

Btw this is the most recent and accurate depiction of Martín I'm content with (for now...)

*CATHOLIC BEAM STRIKES!!! GOD CAME TO ME AND TOLD ME TO MAKE GEORGE A PRIEST AND LENNIE SEEK SALVATION!!*

This is just an AU I made a while ago and just wanted an excuse to draw George as a priest (despite me thinking this dude definitely does not hold any strong religious beliefs😭)

I was thinking Lennie and George were childhood friends until they drifted apart and later in life when Lennie's Aunt Clara died Lennie was completely alone making his hallucinations and behaviors worse. Lennie had caused trouble in the community he stayed at and most of the people think he's crazy and unwell. Eventually, Lennie reunited with George, now a priest, and he took him under his wing. Seeing how Lennie turned out, George made it his mission to try and help him by seeking God or sum and to let the townspeople accept Lennie (I obviously haven't thought this through much this was just a silly thought that I came up with in my head, I made this in May so I have lost track hhh)

Uhm, Hola amigos it's been a while😁...

Srry I haven't posted in so long I just didn't have the motivation to, but that didn't stop me from creating more of mice and men art! (Although this piece is old and not recent whatsoever I still think it's good)

I noticed the fandom has gained a lot more attention than before and wanted to give out some of my own 2 cents. The people beg for more of mice and men content!!

Anyway, take this soul-crushing depiction of George missing Lennie! (Iykyk)

When the fandom is so small you have to suck it up and make your own fan content 💔 (/lh this was pretty silly to make, but also I want more Omam fans, trust me it’s peak guys)

Anyway this came to me in a vision

I have an of mice and men reading; George is also on the spectrum, however he simply represents the “acceptable” or “good” aspects of it.

George and Lennie are repeatedly shown throughout the story to be two sides of the same coin, but always are roughly together on it. Like when their physical appearances are directly contrasted, but they wear the same exact outfit. With this in mind, my theory makes more sense symbolically.

Adding on, as of mice and men discusses social inequality between minorities in our society as its main theme, this reading adds an extra layer onto this with how autistic people are treated when they can “cover up” their traits as opposed to when they can’t.

Some reasoning, since I believe autism (or any disorder) headcannons are better with evidence:

-he gets agitated easily, and when he gets agitated it’s in short, almost rapid-fire spurts (not directly a signal that he is autistic, but something that I and many of my high-masking autistic friends related to.)

-he has a strong sense of justice, and will be up in arms quickly if something he doesn’t agree with morally is said.

-he is very straightforward, refusing to sugarcoat anything he says (with the exception of with Lennie, who he feels most secure with.)

Anyways, high masking and no masking George and Lennie duo is cannon in my heart 🥹🙏
