In all my life, I've never identified with any artist other than Hayao Miyazaki.
SO CUUUUTEEEE😭😭😭
He looks so proud of himself
I could accept ACOTAR for what it is (mediocre, not thought out, purely smut driven after the first book) but the stans painting Rhysand (and the other bat boys) as boyfriend material that we should strive for irl is genuinely what fuels me to be such a big hater
cruelty is so easy. youre not special for choosing it
"The trouble is that we have a bad habit, encouraged by pedants and sophisticates, of considering happiness as something rather stupid. Only pain is intellectual, only evil interesting. This is the treason of the artist; a refusal to admit the banality of evil and the terrible boredom of pain."
-Ursula K. LeGuin, The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas
"Evil is boring. Right? I kinda believe in the banality and mundaneness of evil. Evil is just selfish impulses, which at the end of the day are really easy to understand. It’s easy to understand why people do bad things. It’s like “yeah, ok, you’re selfish and scared and cruel, I get it”. Being good is complex and beautiful and hard." - Brennan Lee Mulligan
"How monotonously alike all the great tyrants and conquerors have been: how gloriously different are the saints." --C.S. Lewis
“Imaginary evil is romantic and varied; real evil is gloomy, monotonous, barren, boring. Imaginary good is boring; real good is always new, marvelous, intoxicating.”
-Simone Weil
whats your favourite scholarly insult
Big fan of "so and so claims X, but evidence says otherwise"
BIG fan of "it is tempting to think-"
Came across a really good one today:
"but upon more rigorous inspection, we find-"
I love academics going scorched earth. "It's tempting to think X" is a declaration of war
All of the examples in the notes are very good, but this one made me yell 'oh SHIT'
Most vicious I ever saw was "this argument shows a lack of familiarity with the text and a lack of understanding of the time period in general."
Absolutely brutal.
Ares in Mythology:
Kills the guy who tried to assault his daughter and refused to apologize for it when he got put on trial (it was ruled justifiable homicide by Athena btw).
The only time he’d been captured in battle was when he was protecting his mom from being captured by giants who wanted to forcibly marry her.
Found and Freed Thanatos when he was imprisoned by Sisyphus when no other Gods could
Helps found the Amazons by helping their founder escape her abusive husband and becomes their patron God.
Genuinely loves and respects Aphrodite as her own person
One of his epithets is “feasted by women”.
Ares in Modern Media:
Meatheaded sexist asshole out of an eighties teen movie.
Conclusion: My boy is getting done dirtier than Hades in modern representation. Ares is one of the least problematic Gods in the pantheon (except for the murders, I will grant you) and ya’ll are sleeping on him.
ALWAYS REBLOG THIS ONE

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
He is also the only male member of the Greek Pantheon with zero (0) counts of rape to his name. He had a lot of kids, but by all accounts it was with willing partners.
when your art program’s closing message hits you straight in the heart and makes you stop and contemplate the state of it all
because of the huge response to this post, I decided to make a version of the art that includes the text
I’ve also uploaded this design to INPRNT, and all sales proceeds will be donated to environmental and humanitarian charities!
this is still going around with the old dead links - please help me share this version
You are more than that...
In order to better organize so people who don't want to be spammed with my Arthurian writing and og ideas don't have to be, I've set up a new blog called @whortleberry-fairy! Please follow me there if you're interested since I'm going to hopefully start putting out some short stories, and possibly stuff with my own original work!
This is going to stay more general writing/fate stuff.
my favorite genre of women is running from creepy castles/houses
I swear gothic romance covers peaked during this era. Modern ones are bland in comparison.
you wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me
Just my opinion but it’s irksome that Le Morte d’Arthur is the default Arthurian text. Trying to find articles about the Vulgate is a challenge.
And forget finding anything about Gawain that isn’t SGATGK. Yes thank you that’s beautiful but I’m looking for info about slut Gawain.
I'm going to assume the reason is because of the price. It's easy and cheap to get a copy of Morte or SGATGK, but the copies of the English translation of the Vulgate I have were $350 for the whole set.

I'd love to play a superman game of paying rent and saving squirrels 🥹
I would too. It would be so much fun to play.
