shinsou was in a continuous cycle, not sleeping at all or sleeping all day. you were the only thing that helped him, not being able to sleep without you was his norm. you know his quirk did that to him. that he couldn't help it. being night-hide was no easy task for him. and that's what he wanted to do, so you supported him despite knowing the toll it took on him.
that doesn't mean you just disregarded his insomnia when you had work, nor did it mean you disregarded when he slept all day. you recommended things to him that you thought would help, you couldn't always be there to help him. hell— your schedules were so different. you were out the whole day, and he was out the whole night. he wished your recommendations worked. they didn't.
a compromise was made. less hours. the city didn't need shinsou specifically working from sunset to sunrise. one in the morning became the time he arrived home. and it was a set rule, if he was tired, come home. the thought was, that maybe, if he stopped forcing himself awake to patrol, he'd sleep normally. it was incorrect. you were able to lull him to sleep faster, but the problem continued: as soon as you left for work, he could no longer sleep.
he's tired, drained from his quirk usage from mere hours earlier, but his brain cant shut down. he misses you. he's wishing both your schedules lined up. he's hoping your okay, because he knows being a high-ranked hero is nothing small. his brain associated you with security, and he wasn't secure if he couldn't confirm you were safe.
you were stumped, but you couldn't continue to see your baby like this. you thought hard and came up with another idea, you would still put him to sleep. you couldn't physically be there with him; hold him and play with his hair 'till he fell asleep. but that didn't stop you from lulling him to sleep still.
as expected of pro-heroes, you were swamped with work. even so, you made time to give a quick call to shinsou whenever he reawoke. he didn't need much, just your reassurance, "hi baby, everything's good. go to sleep now, okay?" then in seconds he was asleep. it's like he was a light switch, you flicked him off, and just like that he was out. it wasn't perfect. he still woke up after that. that's okay, though, because another call was all that he needed.
then quick visits were added on. you missed each other, and him seeing you in person would one-hundred-percent put his mind to ease for longer. he quite literally recharged in your presence. your touch, your voice, your smell, seeing you, you. all he needed was you. nothing else.
his other problem, sleeping too much, wasn't a hard fix. he needed you to sleep, and the only time your schedules aligned for a prolonged time was on the weekends. this meant he only overslept with you present. to fix this, all you had to do was deny him asking you to come back to bed for the millionth time. denying him itself was the hard task, but you knew that once "no, lets go do…," came from your mouth, he'd be up to follow you.
