Just a general reminder that the week of 18-24 February is another strike. Please don't ignore this, no one has the excuse of it being too spontaneous this time as it has been planned since the strike in January ended. Don't talk about anything other than the injustices in the world. Talk about Palestine. Talk about Sudan. Talk about the republic of Congo. Talk about West Papua. Do not let anyone forget about any of the genocides going on rn.
Educate yourself, donate to unrwa and buy esims, look up local protests, look up and read books, watch videos, listen to podcasts, learn more. Find local organisations who are taking direct action, email and call politicians, join unions, theres so much you can do. Please don't ignore what's going on in the world rn
An autistic person: I headcanon this character as autistic because of reasons A, B, and C.
Ableist allistic person:
Watch:Â Poet Porsha Olayiwola heartbreakingly reminds us all that black womenâs lives matter too.Â
One example of why I will FOREVERÂ PUTÂ BLACK WOMEN ANDÂ GIRLS FIRST.
george floyd is not a martyr. he is not a hero. he didn't sacrifice his life. he was murdered. stop thanking him for bursting your bubble of ignorance. stop talking about his legacy as if he chose to die. stop ignoring that police violence continues to exist and continues to murder people.
remember that black lives matter. all over the world.
i love women so much i wanna cry
Being gay is nice đ
Also if you wanna go a little further back My Wife and Kids replaced Jazz Raycole with Jennifer Freeman. In fact, for the promotion of the show after the new Clare was cast, they didnât even bother shooting new pictures; they just put Jenniferâs head on Jazzâs body.
#Facts If we are serious about inclusive representation, then we have to get into colorism and the erasure of darker-skinned Black female characters.
Another fact, Black Hollywood content creators often inflict this problem on their own. Thatâs why âInsecureâ, âI May Destroy Youâ, âSelah and the Spadesâ and any number of recent TV shows and movies are important. And it is no coincidence that a lot of these new good projects are created by darker-skinned women who knows whatâs up and are centering more sisters on the darker spectrum. Long overdue.
I've seen commercials more diverse than today's television shows and it's sad because while dark skinned and brown skinned black women are being erased the same can't be said about black men.
^^That part. I've noticed commercials have become unnecessarily interracial at the peak of blm this year. More specifically, ive seen more commercials easily represent relationships between black men & white women (inclusion of biracial children off & on as well) than ive seen any changes for representation of Monoracial Black families or brown/dark skinned black couples on tv at all.
Its really aggravating seeing Black men are welcomed to play part in it in any shade they come, but black women can only be represented thru light skinned or half black women when white ppl can tolerate it at all. Then in the real world we've got black men out here openly disrespecting & dehumanizing monoracial black women for absolute fun, which no one but black women have brought attention or responded to. interracialness in commercials & tv has not only become gratuitous but p ignorant too. it's like watching the dryest, most stubborn & ingenuine âsocial acknowledgementâ of how white ppl feel a need to possess our culture to stay relevant while even the taking of Black Lives is the conversation. While even the lynchings of black men in 2020 were going on. While white women have come out the woodwork left & right using slurs like the n word, culture vulturing or posting in leaked white female groupchats ab how they justify & enjoy exploiting black men in particular racially & sexually bc they, paraphrased, have no standards, are self-loathing & easier to manipulate than white men, thirst heavily for white girls so they don't ever have to do much as is to get what they want from them â among more sexually degrading things they weren't shy ab filling each other in on.
corporations & tv have barely tried at all reshooting commercials & shoveling out fresh ones of nothing but black men of any variety w literally only 2 kinds of women either barely or not even black. I'm not even sorry to put it that way bc we've seriously gotta stop tiptoeing & pussyfooting around colorism & the consuming major role it plays in casting black women in virtually anything. black women exist; there's nothing wrong w being monoracially or fully Black; there's nothing wrong w being dark skinned ffs; black women don't have to be biracial to meet a standard of beauty, be important or worth listening to; frankly I am such an individual absolutely exhausted w seeing biracial & light skinned girls pick meâd for Black roles fully Black girls could fill perfectly fine if not better. This does not affect black men at all. They don't even speak out on this bc at the same time they're busy fetishising the types of women that misrepresent black women behind these pushed ideals around being biracial or half black w white-passing or fair complexions â & dogging the hell out of actual Black women in all their spare time.
oh so you'll like my post but not kiss me. typical

âI DESIRE YOUR WIFEâ at the new york city dyke march, june 1993
âGirls love each other like animals. There is something ferocious and unself-conscious about it. We donât guard ourselves like we do with boys. No one trains us to shield our hearts from each other. With girls, itâs total vulnerability from the beginning. Our skin is bare and soft. We love with claws and teeth and the blood is just proof of how much. Itâs feral. And it is relentless.â
