There was nothing about moving that Jacob enjoyed, but he had admit that at least for today, Sarah had lessened some of his hatred for the process. The apartment that he’d found was small and rather boxy, but a clear step up from the sort of studio you’d settle for when you were fresh out of college and desperate to strike out on your own. The small six-housing complex was located in downtown Charleston, closer to the high school than anything else, which Jake had thought was perfect given the school year starting up again within days. He’d started moving in and unpacking the essentials before Sarah dropped by to help — Jake had forced his brother to help him with the heavy lifting of old furniture pieces from their parents’ house and the mattress he now had on the floor in the single bedroom. He’d also convinced his brother to help him with a few Ikea builds, but there were still plenty of full boxes propped up against walls and out of the way.
“Alright,” Jake started, calling back towards the messy living room as he ducked into the fridge to snag two bottles of beer. “Are you ready to get going on this walk down memory lane?” He turned to look into the living room where he’d left Sarah, surrounded by now empty boxes that had been marked as ‘KITCHEN’ with old newspapers stuffed inside as padding for dishes. “Because I think we’ve done enough work for now and definitely deserve a break.” It took Jacob a few seconds to locate his bottle opener and then just a few more to pop the metal lids off the beers. He walked into the living area, setting their drinks down onto the vintage coffee table his mother had forced him to take when he’d mentioned he was short on furniture.
He stepped away from the couch to find the one open box he’d been sure to set aside. it was pilled with odds and ends; mostly photo albums and yearbooks with some holiday cards interspersed. “You did bring your embarrassing photos, too, right?” Jake asked, eyeing Sarah as if he didn’t trust her before a smile was pulling at his lips. He moved to sit on the couch, setting the box on the floor between them and the coffee table. @sarahbluth
Sarah already knew, moving could be really boring process. She knew this from the first hand since she moved back to Charleston from New York four months ago. All those packing, settling down, cleaning and organizing sounded like a torture to her and she still had no idea how she did it. However she was happy to help Jacob, she loved spending time with him and she knew the night wouldn’t be boring at all because those two always found a way to have fun together.
“Yes!” She exclaimed with a smile, clapping her hands together once he showed up with two beers. “I am so ready. I can’t wait to see your embarrassing high school photos.” The red head chuckled, giving him a playful wink. Sarah was overly excited for tonight, they planned this few weeks ago and ever since she has been counting days. Sure, she was a laidback and chill person but she enjoyed spending time with Jacob a lot. “Absolutely.” The red head agreed him with a slow nod, watching him opening the beers. Sarah took a seat on the couch. Once she sat down, she has realized how tired she was. She took the beer bottle, taking a sip as he grabbed the box.
“Yes, yes, yes!” She clapped her hands again. “Of course I did.” The red head winked, pointing the year book which was in her tote bag — still you could see it. Sarah gave him a bright smile as he sat on the couch, moving slightly closer to him. “God, this yearbook looks so old. It’s like vintage.” She teased him.
