I painted this after a road trip through France with my children. At that time my second baby had just been born — he was about four months old.
We visited a quiet park near a monastery on a hill. There were many stone steps leading through the garden, surrounded by old olive trees. Everywhere were small flowers — forget-me-nots and pansies.
I remember slowly walking there with the stroller, stopping to look at the light and colors. It was very peaceful.
Later in my studio I painted this memory.Sometimes a painting is just a landscape — and sometimes it’s a moment of life you want to keep forever.
