How I feel when I get behind on Tumblr posts for this class...but anyways kind of glad we finished "A Visit From The Goon Squad" today. I hated how the book didn't offer a resolution in Ch. 13. Jennifer Egan really just left us hanging out to dry. Ch. 12 was definitely unique, with it being a PowerPoint written by Allison. Allison writes this journal entry, describing her family life, and their relationships with each other. This structure definitely contributes to the book being Po-mo.

As I'm reading "A Visit from the goon squad," all I can think about is the A.D.D. Jennifer Egan has. Someone get this woman some aderall or Ritalin! She's not helping those who suffer with a.d.d. with all these stories jumping around. It's not a bad book, but honestly I don't understand why she wouldn't just write a bunch of different books rather than one with a million stories jumping around...and I thought I was scatter-brained...may The Lord be with her...

Midterm...cheers to hopefully feeling like Beyoncé once this is all said and done. Say your prayers, and get right with The Lord. Gotta get my life together with these tumblr posts. Not that I don't have time, but I honestly forget about them. I'll get it together eventually. Fridays and Sundays sneak up way too fast. Praying that Jesus takes the wheel, literature is a weakness of mine. Keep it classy this week on the beach. Don't get arrested, drink some water, and say your prayers.

I am currently in love with this book! I have found to be very humorous and yet so heartbreaking at times. I was pleased to hear in class that there are people who think Oskar falls within the autism spectrum. He is such an intelligent boy, with such deep rooted pain. I would say he is in dire...

I couldn't agree more. This book allows us to somewhat comprehend the affect that 9/11 had on Oskar. It by far was a very tragic experience. He is definitely a unique child, with a very creative imagination. Although Oskar may be different, as he struggles with his learning disability, he is very brilliant for his age.

"Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" is somewhat a strange book at first. It begins as Oskar thinking to himself about inventions, such as the tea kettle and the microphone that connects to your heart. He is a very unique child. He's smart, but their is obviously something different about him. It's thought that he may have a learning disability. The format of this book I a definitely post modern. It's set up very differently. Throughout the book, it has pages with just 3 words on it, and art work. Those by far are my favorite pages! Overall, not a bad book. It's definitely kind of strange at first.

Definitely glad I wasn't the only one that didn't quite understand it. I completely agree that the roles of the genders being reversed is a reflection of PoMo. Also, Leroy smoking pot seems to reflect the modern era that we're in. That doesn't seem like something that old authors would even mention in their works. Overall, it wasn't a bad story. The sad thing is, so many people like Leroy just give up on their dreams, and don't do anything with their lives.

Shiloh..
This is what I feel like when I finally somewhat understand a story in our Literature class. Shiloh was still kind of a strange story to figure out. Norma Jean was quite a character. In the beginning of the story, she was more of a typical housewife. She then took on a complete transformation, becoming more independent. Norma Jean is basically very insecure, and she’s trying to discover her own true self. Leroy kind of loses himself when he has his truck accident. He feels as if he has no purpose as he lost the role of breadwinner for the family. Leroy thinks that Norma Jean will appreciate him being around the house, when in fact she just gets annoyed by his presence. Leroy tends to just lie around on the couch smoking pot, rather than doing something that Norma Jean can thank him for. He gets intimated by Norma Jean’s independence rather than embracing it, and encouraging her.

This new concept of tumblr and posting weekly has given me a bit of anxiety. I guess I am resistant to the idea of change and the unknown. I’m a creature of habit and schedules. While postmodernism is not a concept I am familiar with, I will approach it with an open mind. I hope at the end of this...

Not sure if that gif will work. But this definitely describes my thoughts towards this tumblr thing, as of right now. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one having anxiety about this. Lord this is definitely a completely new learning experience, as well as the whole concept of Po-Mo. I really can't be the only one that has never even heard of it until this class. I have a lot to learn...

Post-Modernism, what is that? It's such a confusing concept to grasp, especially to people such as myself that aren't exactly the brightest crayon in the box. I honestly think someone just wanted to spice up the world of literature and arts, and create a whole new concept to keep people on their toes, and maybe confuse a few on the way. In Post-Modernism, the eye is in the hand of the beholder. Their isn't a specific set of rules to right and wrong. It's all about how one interprets things. I personally think that the fact that their isn't an explanation for everything is what makes it so confusing.
