Seeing his brother race from the room, Alec can’t help but sigh softly again as echoing footsteps fade with distance. The tiredness is creeping up on his again, begging Alec to surrender his consciousness. The thought of allowing himself to fall asleep, forgetting the life-threatening problem at hand is nearly irresistible and, had it been anyone but his panicking brother, Alec may have given in to the temptation. He refuses to leave his twin alone to tend to the self-inflicted wounds that paint his neck and so, Alec continues to force himself to remain conscious. Less than a minute passes before heavy footsteps signal Stiles’ return to Alec’s bedroom. Panicked words announce his entrance into the room and Alec struggles to open his eyes and turn his head to meet his brother’s wide-eyes. Thought’s are still fleeting and fuzzy, but the terror lacing his brother’s words indicate just how much danger the younger twin is in. Regret is inevitable, though the exhaustion makes sitting up difficult – it’s all the more difficult to bring himself to care about the blood staining his neck.

❝ We’re going to get through this. ❞

A cotton wad is hastily pressed to his brother’s throat, a slight touch to keep from hurting him, but it grows more insistent as his hands paint themselves crimson. He’s soon intently pressing strips of gauze to the other, hand wrapped around his throat in what must be a stunning sight. stiles’ lip is quivering, his brow screwed so tight it’s starting to ache.

A harsh prick in his nose sends tears to his eyes, which are promptly wiped on his shoulder -------- now is not the time. A deep breath; in, out, and he’s at least got a handle on it.
