;; Surprise lit amber eyes as the raptor glanced at the bucket, Alpha’s face, and then at the large rat that now lay on the ground in front of her. Her head swiftly turned and she checked to make sure her sisters weren’t in her immediate vicinity, nostrils flaring. The last thing she needed was Blue to feel like putting her in her place.
Satisfied that they were alone, Echo grabbed the rat in her jaws and after a few devastating bites, swallowed it whole.
A purr welled in her throat and she nuzzled Alpha’s cheek with her snout. Delicious. Thank you.
If there was one thing that showed him that he had made the right decision by taking on this job at Jurassic World and working with the raptors, it was those few moments when one of them actually treated him as if he also was a raptor. No, actually, he was sure that Echo wouldn’t necessarily treat any of her sisters like she just treated him. Owen smiled at the gesture, but did not quite dare to reach out and pat the massive predator.
Many of his colleagues here at the park thought him crazy for stepping into the paddock in the first place, but he didn’t care. “You can be such a big puppy.”

There was nothing more to discuss, in her opinion, the moment he told her there was AC at his place. Sweat made everything stick her and it was horribly uncomfortable. She was a northerner; this heat felt like she decided to sit inside a microwave and turned it on. Granted, it would have to be a human sized microwave, but that was neither here nor there. “I- ok…” Her mother’s voice mentally chided her about getting onto a strangers bike, but Carter pushed it back. “Don’t, uh, kill me.” Whether she meant on the bike or when they arrived at his house, even she wasn’t fully aware.
“Don’t worry about that.” Owen told her with a slight smirk as he got onto his bike and waited for her to follow him. “I never get my own hands dirty when I could just set my raptors on you and let them do it.” He glanced over his shoulder and winked. “There isn’t exactly much traffic here so we’ll be just fine, okay?”
The bike roared to life a moment later and he sat back to have enough balance to keep the machine upright. “You coming?”

“Pleasure,” Robin tossed him a grin before turning back towards the bar to pick up his drink. After draining an inch or so he found himself laughing with a shake of his head. “Can’t say I have but it’s certainly interesting. Maybe I’ll try one just to say I’ve had one.” He set the glass down on the counter and listened intently even though it was a challenge with a group of tourists nearby murdering a few songs while clearly drunk off their arses.
“A dinosaur trainer? I never considered that they could be trained; well I figured why would anyone want to try? They are meant to be wild and not kept contained but that’s just a personal opinion.” He shrugged his shoulders. The thief also hadn’t a clue what a velociraptor is but he’s certain the boys do. Working with any dinosaur would be something grand so he gives Owen a smile and nods along. “I think everyone has forgotten that all dinosaurs can be dangerous even the herbivores but your lot are exceeding so? Forgive me my ignorance but I haven’t much exposure to dinosaurs save what my sons have told me leading up to coming here and I’m not one for mucking about with technology either so in a way I guess I’m where I belong. As ancient as the magnificent creatures in the park.”
Robin twisted his glass this way then that. “What’re they like? Your raptors? Would you rather keep them away from the public? I’d hazard a guess that they’d be happier without the audience.”
“Well I’d rather keep them out of the spotlight since they’re probably the most dangerous predator that’s ever walked the earth and not some circus attraction, but I do get that they people who own this park want to make money with them since it cost them millions to create them.” Owen sighed and took a sip of beer. It felt good to talk about this since he usually couldn’t with his colleagues, ever afraid to lose their jobs if they’d open their mouths.
“A raptor’s relatively small compared to a T-Rex, but bigger than a Dilophosaurus. What made them especially dangerous was the long claw they had... or have.... on each foot. They’d always hunt in packs and corner their prey before ripping them apart. I’ve watched them do that many times and as horrible as it is, I think I’ve they’d never died out they would rule over the planet by now.” Another sip of beer. “They’re terribly intelligent, too. We had to repair the fences over and over again since they systematically tested them for weaknesses so they could break out.”
The crowd next to them was getting louder and louder and Owen gave them a glare. It was his time off and he didn’t want to be yelled at during that. “I don’t know I just enjoy working with them.” He told the other man, Robin, a moment later. “Perhaps we should get out of here before we’re deaf though?”

“You must be right, and I’d love to visit, but…” Madellaine stated, disappointment resounding in her voice as she continued, “I-I don’t think I can. But, just in case I might ever get the chance, where is this Jurassic World?”
“It’s on an island called Isla Nublar which is located about a hundred miles off the west coast of Costa Rica. It’s definitely a nice spot for a location since the island is actually a volcano and it’s always hot.”
"Did you need something?"
“Sure. Two cheeseburgers and a coke? That would be amazing right now.”

“I only asked because you’re taking up valuable space in my office to dawdle. I’d say just about anything to make you leave.” Regina huffs, shaking her head, “If you’re so hungry why don’t you go annoy someone else?”
“Oh I can always eat later. Right now I’m on some sort of mission. My... employer ... sent me here, God knows why, because apparently there are large quantities of amber in one of your mines. Jurassic World would love to purchase that.”

Rose didn’t like watching Owen go in there alone. Yes, she knew from the stories about Mr. Grady that he was the alpha of the raptor pack, having been there from the moment they hatched; however things are always risky when it comes to carnivores. You can never tell if their baser instincts will set in and you’ll be on their dinner menu.
She hadn’t been out here enough to really pay attention to the animals, but now they had her undivided attention. The creature soon appeared, making terribly awful sounds as she limped. A simple splinting should be enough, and then they could put her under again to get it off.
It was remarkable watching Owen work, and the girl watched with shallow breath as the raptor hobbled towards the meat, obviously unsure of whether or not to eat. But soon enough her head lowered and she tore at the spiked meat until she’d devoured it all.
He stood there for what seemed like hours, not daring to move for a sleepy raptor was even more likely to attack than one who was in full control of her body and senses. Charlie eyed him closely, then let out a pitiful whine that made his blood feel like ice in his veins. She’d be much better soon, she’d just have to...
The majestic predator collapsed a moment later, the last healthy leg giving in as she crashed to the ground, obviously quite passed out. He let out the breath he’d been holding, then stepped closer, kneeling down next to the girl and slowly running his hand over her skin. She was asleep, quite obviously, and they would now be safe.
He checked her eyes briefly, then made sure that she was breathing properly, then glanced over his shoulder, giving Barry the sign to open the gates and let the vet inside. “She’s out cold. We should be fine in here for a while now.”
‘ Something is wrong. ‘
“That’s not a good thing to sayin a park full of killing machines.”

Emma rolled with her eyes. “You know what I mean! Obviously bunnies and squirrels are harmless. I’m talking about the animals in this park!” She took the gun from him and swung it over her shoulder. “I know you could use help that’s why I offered.”
“I’m glad you’re so aware of all the dangers here, it will probably save your life at one point or another.” He opened the door to the jeep for her. “So where do you want to start? Should we just follow the screams?”

As the tour guide listen to him talk she took off the top off the container to her salad and took a small bite. She wasn’t used to lunch breaks really, she tended to work through her lunch break so she could get extra money to save for her mother to visit. She swallowed her mouth full before daring to respond.
“Oh it’s no biggie really. The tough groups are the teenagers through college students, they never like to listen to anyone at all.” Artemis began to explain as she uncapped her water bottle and clearing her throat. “Most adults have a eye on their children so family tours are usually the easiest, it when you get parent’s wo either don’t care how their kids act or don’t know how to control them.” There had been many inccidents in the park that had to be coveted up due to people who didn’t listen to the rules.
She sipped her water for a quick second, her throat a bit dry, before finishing her thought. “It isn’t the best or more pleasurable job ever. But I get to work here at the park and seeing these animal’s everyday make the day easier. ”
“You know...” He chewed and swallowed his last bite, then washed it down with water as well. “I actually do know what you feel like with those careless parents. I did train with animals before I came here, as preparation you know? And some of the other trainers just didn’t care at all. One nearly had his arm bitten off by a tiger. They threw him out of the program the same day.”
Outside the raptors were obviously getting impatient, but he could understand their angry hissing sounds. That lunch break had caused their lunch to be late. They’d live and Owen couldn’t care less about butthurt raptor babies. Giving in to their angry fits would only show them that that was the best way to get what they want. Dangerous territory while working with raptors.
“I do love this job because of the animals, that’s true.” He commented on her last words. “Not so much a fan of most of the people who work here. Some are really great human beings, but those InGen guys, hm, I question their motives when it comes to the raptor training.”

❝ Oh– thank god. ❞
She had felt so guilty for getting distracted by wedding stuff. So frustrated that she had to balance watching the boys with Alec’s stubbornness. She shouldn’t have gotten angry, she should have told Alec to call her back later. But she hadn’t and those boys could have gotten seriously hurt. Now that she knows they’re safe it’s safe to say she visibly relaxes.
Her grip also relaxes on his arm, though she doesn’t let go just yet. His presence is the most grounding thing she’s experienced in the last few hours. Zara manages a smile, nodding in reaction to his statement about the park closing.
❝ I won’t have a job, but I don’t think I could go back. ❞
Having her blanket over her had felt too much like being in the Mosasaurus’ mouth, the darkness and the small space. Shadows overhead have been making her start and scare. Too much stress, she needs to calm down. Another coughing fit takes her before she can speak and
❝ I don’t think so. Where are you heading? ❞
His own hand squeezed her shoulder a bit more when she began to cough once more then he reached out and refilled her water glass before handing it to her. “I’m not sure yet. We’re all getting evacuated in a couple of hours, but it’s gonna take some time to get everyone off the island.” He was all the professional soldier now, having been far more human a moment earlier. “We still have a T-Rex running free, so some people have to keep an eye out for her. I doubt she’ll attack us, she’s not the youngest anymore, but still.”
Out of the corner of his eyes he saw Claire head outside with the boys and, Owen assumed, their parents. He smiled a bit at that, then concentrated on Zara again. “Listen, I totally get it if it’s too hard to talk about it right now, but how the hell did you survive this? I-.... well we all saw what happened and I honestly thought we’d lost you.” He glanced down at that, pretty sure that he’d just been too curious. “Sorry... I shouldn’t have asked about that. Dunno where that came from.” His hand slipped off her shoulder and he leaned back.

kneelinmypresence:
And there it was. The sudden shift in the pack, the man moving behind the raptors as the Beta moved forward. Barring her teeth she hissed in return, only to let that hiss turn into a grin. Standing tall she shifted, letting go of the reptilian form to reclaim her normal appearance.
Watching the raptors for a moment longer, her emerald gaze then shifted to the man. “I must admit, Fury is getting rather creative with his methods these days. I was expecting him to send the fast one that I’ve heard about. Or the one that Stark helped create….I was not expecting this.” Laughing, her gaze returned to the raptors, admiring them for a moment, but never letting her guard down. They where predators and at the moment, they considered her prey.
“They are magnificent beasts.” Her eyes returned to the man. “Not many would be able to become their Alpha. That takes a particularly strong will to do so. Tell me, did you raise them?” As she spoke her magic was already starting to weave around her, unseen, setting up precautions for protection. She’d been hunted before on other planets. Situations like this…it wasn’t a question of if they would attack, but when. “Oh wait! I suppose the more important question here is this one. Did he order you to bring me back alive or dead?”
He’d gotten off his bike and had raised his gun, the red laser pointing right at her chest as she began to speak to him. The raptors had remained surprisingly calm at the moment but he wouldn’t trust on them remaining in that state for long. They were in hunting mode and, though right now they’d probably wait for his move, soon enough Blue would begin to get impatient and try to take matters into her own claws.
He barely listened to her words, mind completely focused on shooting her before she could do anything really stupid. Sure, he’d been ordered to bring her back alive, but Owen would not hesitate to ignore that order if he or the raptors would suddenly find themselves in danger.
“Alive.” He answered her honestly. “But I don’t care about orders. Make a wrong move and you’ll find yourself the proud owner of a bullet in your brain.” Delta, next to him, bean to hiss and stepped forward and he growled at her. “Get back.” The animal obeyed immediately. “I did raise them, by the way. Since you asked.”

“So are you really sure that you wanna do this? We wouldn’t want you to get that other hand bitten off, hm? Owen stood close to the raptor paddock, shoulder leaned against one of the pillars as he made sure to not touch the actual fence. Though he doubted that the pack would actually attack him, it would be best to not test that theory.
The pack was abnormally nervous, since Charlie had managed to hurt herself. The other ones were now shielding her off, making it impossible for anyone to tranquilize her. Owen had volunteered to go in and distract the rest of the pack and, hopefully, lead them away from Charlie. And Killian had insisted to help.
“I’m pretty sure I can do this on my own.” He really wasn’t sure, but didn’t want to risk anyone else’s life.
irina-x:
Irina has to interrogate thealphabadass for a case she’s working on.
Irina rubbed her temples with a groan as she stepped off of the ferry boat in front of Jurassic World. The jet lag from flying from London to here wasn’t the reason behind her splitting migraine. After all, because of the nature of her occupation, she had grown accustomed to it. The fact that she hadn’t been able to catch a wink of sleep on the plane was the main reason for her state. The detective had sacrificed her time all the way here to cram as much information about dinosaurs and Jurassic World as possible. Seeing that she was hired to inspect Jurassic World, doing research about it was something that the brunette had to do, but she couldn’t help but to regret not getting some rest on the plane.
After giving the employee at the office desk a groggy hello, Irina was led into an office which was quite small, but nevertheless equipped with a desk and two chairs.
“Mr. Grady will be with you in a short moment.” The employee said as she closed the door.
After setting her behemoth backpack on the table, Irina dug her head into it, in a futile attempt to fix her sleep deprived body.
He was running late due to an incident with one of the new employees that would probably be called an accident soon. The man had ended up in the paddock, surrounded by the pack and Owen had saved him at the last second while at the same time almost getting attacked himself. Working with raptors sure never got boring. He’d showered and changed clothes and had made his way to the main building where he was supposed to meet a woman who was going to inspect the park. Lovely. Perfect timing. He really hoped they’d keep the new guy out of her sight then.
He turned the corner and stepped into the small office only to stop dead at the sight of a woman with her head buried into a backpack. He bit his lip, then, trying not to laugh as he walked around her and sat behind the desk to watch her. Apparently she hadn’t heard him. Well who was he to wake her up if she needed sleep?
