and the thing is sukuna still respects megumi as a sorcerer, while at the same time he's fully aware that he can break him and his psyche, as the whole reason he even switched vessels in the first place was because this was never possible w yuuji. sukuna tricked yuuji into making a binding vow w him in chapter 11, which only goes to show that he ALWAYS knew he could never be in control of this vessel, because yuuji was never one to begin with - to sukuna he was a literal cage. and yet he spent the whole manga stubbornly refusing to acknowledge yuuji's strength, while being fully aware that he CAN'T break him, but he can break megumi.

sukuna turned megumi's life into a living hell solely because of his own selfishness - to gain his own body autonomy. nothing he did to megumi was personal to sukuna, meanwhile all the times he called yuuji weak and boring and the one time he made him witness the devastation he caused in shibuya were fully personal. he didn't just want to switch vessel for his own use, but more than that he wanted to get away from yuuji. and megumi happened to be his blessing in disguise that allowed him to do that, the one in a million.

here’s where i begin a much more specific rec list for my favorite authors: katerpillar, kentuckyfriedmegumi, and chosospinkytoes—the holy itafushi trinity. these guys are the GOATS but here are some honorable mentions of works of theirs

KFM: 15 Minutes, Itadori Yuji’s Totally Foolproof Plan to get Fushiguro Megumi to Fall in Love with Him, Necessary Evil, Hot Off the Press, With a Love I Seemed to Lose, skinny dipping (water under the bridge), Closing the Distance, The Haunting Adventures of Itadori Yuuji and Fushiguro Megumi.

^ every work on that list is ItaFushi, “Closing the Distance” has minor NobaMaki. i started with “With a Love I Seemed to Lose” and i was hooked, it’s peak, but i also recommend “Closing the Distance” the most. KFM places a lot of focus on coming of age, nostalgia and memory, and how necessary it is to learn to be happy on your own. she also writes for Dandadan and TSHD, and they’re probably just as good

CPT: fire extinguishers work just fine, copy cat, is it gay if our pinkies are intertwined?, i wanna throw the apple (into the sky), kiss me at the kfc (under the christmas lights), you will continue to shine like gold in my memories, a mustache and glasses should do it, right?

^ i’m much less familiar with their catalogue but i thought, “if they’re friends with KFM, they’re probably good,” and i was so right. the fourth fic on the list is satosugu instead of itafushi, but still just as cute.

katerpillar: imagine being loved by me, old habits die hard, death of a silkworm, despite everything, it’s still you, morning glory, crash course, what the cat dragged in, high score, a little white lie

^ strong itafushi presence here as well, though the fourth fic is actually NobaFumi!!!! a lot of these are either angsty or fluffy oneshots (or both), but “imagine being loved by me” and “death of a silkworm” are both multi-chapter (though DOAS isn’t finished yet). katerpillar’s plots and writing style are very emotionally driven; not a paragraph goes by without somebody clenching their fists or wiping their eyes, so be ready for a wild ride.

i mean....... in both elevator scenes liam had his back turned on theo and in both scenes theo unexpectedly grabbed him to save his life, pull him away from danger and into safety.  

the symbolism of it all. his instinct does a complete 360, like turn your back on me so i can screw you ov--- ooops, save your life. which is exactly what the first elevator scene was trying to show us, by having theo run to the elevator as if he was trying to run and leave liam behind. and then. AND THEN.

like. liam is stronger than theo. but in “being the bait”, theo closed his arms around liam’s entire body (have you ever seen him willingly touch someone else? as Not part of an effort to manipulate someone?), held him to his chest (in the hallway where he had his sister’s heart ripped out, always the heart ripped out) and pulled him into the elevator. and liam let him do that until he realized that theo was planning on staying behind.

I can clearly remember the moment I first realised my mother and I were living on completely different planes of existence. Love that the very first impression of scott and stiles in teen wolf is that stiles is the kind of kid to hear that a woman was brutally killed in the woods and his first reaction is take his bsf to said woods at night to look at a half eaten corpse, and scott is the kind kid to say yes to that plan. They make it abundantly clear from the get go that stiles does not think anything through and scott thinks things through but with incredibly delayed processing speed
