Recently, things have been disappearing from your home, leading you to worry that there may be a thief on Pineapple Isle. At first, you thought you were misplacing items. They were small things, like hair ties, a sponge from the kitchen, or trinkets that you owned multiple of, so it took some time before you noticed they were gone. You thought nothing of it, that it was merely an accident.
However, that changed when your clothes began to go missing. You eventually stopped hanging your laundry out to dry because items frequently disappeared from the line. You tried to stay rational, thinking that perhaps the wind had blown them away—a reasonable explanation. But that line of thought quickly fell apart when you searched for the lost garments. They were never caught on anything, and your neighbours never found them either. Your clothing simply just… disappeared.
When you asked the other Cookies in the village, no one reported any missing items or thefts. It was only happening to you. One of the elders told you to take the issue to the Golden Dragon right away, as the thought of a thief lurking around their village made them nervous.
As you collected items and stacked them in the daily tribute basket, you wondered what Ananas Dragon Cookie would do to find the thief, or would something so mundane be beneath the great Golden Dragon's concern?
You climbed up the well-trodden path to Ananas Dragon Cookie's temple with your offering basket, and to your surprise, the great dragon was waiting for you at the entrance, as if they knew you were coming.
You supposed it wasn't too odd for the Golden Dragon to have sensed you coming, as dragons had far sharper senses than the Cookies.
"There you are." Ananas Dragon Cookie said with a deep rumble. You bowed and showed your respect.
"I have today's offerings, Ananas Dragon Cookie. I hope it pleases you." You said. The Golden Dragon grinned and beckoned to you with a sharp claw.
"Good. Now come with me, little Cookie." They said. Your eyes widened slightly at Ananas Dragon's request, but you bashfully complied and followed their imposing figure into the shade of their temple.
When you arrived at Ananas Dragon's throne, they sat down on the great stone chair and crossed their legs, their smile smug and knowing. They stamped their staff on the ground with an overpowering authority.
"Speak." Ananas Dragon ordered. "You have something you want to tell me, yes?" They said. You jumped slightly, heat rising in your cheeks.
"How… how did you know?" You asked in surprise. Ananas Dragon Cookie bellowed with laughter.
"This is my island! I know everything that goes on here, because everything on this island is my property, including you, little cookie." They said with a sharp-toothed grin. "So tell me what troubles you, Y/N Cookie." Ananas Dragon Cookie prompted, they purred your name and the way it curled on their tongue gave you goosebumps. You still weren't sure if you should bother the Golden Dragon with this, and you had plans to investigate on your own, but if Ananas Dragon Cookie insisted, you would be a fool to deny their help.
"I think there's a thief in the village stealing my things." You admitted. "I haven't been able to find who it is, and no Cookie has had anything stolen besides me. I don't know what to do." You said nervously.
You expected Ananas Dragon Cookie to be angry, considering the thief would be stealing from the Dragon as well, but they seemed almost nonchalant.
Ananas Dragon pretended to think deeply on something before answering.
"I see, that is troubling." They replied after a moment. "I certainly can't have a thief on my island. But there's something else that has been irritating me." Ananas Dragon mused.
"Something else? What is it?" You asked curiously. The Gold Dragon beckoned you closer.
"Come here. Now." They commanded. You scampered up to the Dragon's throne as ordered and glanced up at them nervously. Ananas Dragon Cookie took your chin in their clawed grip, and they slowly leaned forward and inhaled deeply into your neck. Deep chills went up your back as the Dragon breathed in your scent. A lump formed in your throat at the very thought of questioning the Gold Dragon.
After a long moment, Ananas Dragon pulled away and leaned back into their throne.
"I smell a different scent on you." They lied. "It seems this thief is after more than just your belongings." Ananas Dragon mused with a wicked grin. You stared slack-jawed in disbelief, your face still held in Ananas Dragon's clawed grip.
"Wh-what? But who - why?" You sputtered nervously.
I can only imagine what this thief truly desires is you, Y/N Cookie. If their scent is on you, they must have a way to enter your home during the night. They could have been hovering over you each night while you were vulnerable, helpless, and unaware. Watching you sleep and eagerly breathing in your scent." Ananas Dragon Cookie suggested darkly. At these vivid words, you began to tremble.
"What do I do?!" You squeaked in panic. Ananas Dragon Cookie chuckled and their thumb swiped over your cheek to sooth you.
"Not to worry, I will take care of this. In the meantime, you may stay with me while I investigate." They offered. Ananas Dragon Cookie pulled you onto their lap and pet your hair gently. You couldn't believe the Golden Dragon's generosity.
"Thank you Ananas Dragon Cookie, thank you!" You breathed. Ananas Dragon only smiled smugly.
