aksjsjs i really like the fact that they showed rielle and minhaj's argument,,, not only does it give more depth to their characters (both individually and their relationship as a whole) but i think it also really shows how similar the rsa students are to the nrc students in reality? like the game intentionally builds up this sort of image of perfection around the rsa students, and that's finally being contrasted with their actual depth and flaws

this is particularly why i hated seeing people before book 8 just writing off the rsa students people believed they were just flawless characters that were simply made as one dimensional foils to the nrc cast, making them boring????

i like that minhaj also fully understands the nuance of the argument too, and how he had a right to be upset with rielle, but rielle ALSO had a right to be upset with him for what he said, especially knowing how much it hurts to be told the same thing he said to rielle; minhaj takes accountability for it, and wants to formally apologize to him once he sees him again

and i think how he handles it is ALSO what starts to show this specific difference from how some of the nrc students act/have acted too, where the nrc students can seem disconnected from each other at times due to being more single-minded, even if their pursuits are the same

(makes me very excited to see the bonds between the other rsa students too!!)

Some extra notes/headcanons:

Jameow is a Siamese cat that gets suuuuuuper toasted when it's cold, like he becomes of those burnt Siamese cats that looks like he just returned from the mines, looking almost identical to a black cat

(He may or may not have once wore a heart-shaped mark on his butt for a period of time because Mayu had to shave a small patch of fur (siamese fur grows back darker when shaved))

Nyace (also known as Nyappola) is an orange cat of all time. Like truly an orange cat of orange cats. He was the first of the three to arrive at Mayu's house. He's very good at playing cute and flopping over for belly rubs, but also likes to whack her with his paw a lot for attention. After Jameow moved in though, Jameow keeps smacking him when he tries to flop over for pets 😔

Minyajael is one of those crazy expensive Bengal cats. He escaped his original owner's place and followed Mayu home one day after smelling the spicy noodles in her bag. Every time Jameow hisses at him he just looks up at Mayu like "Get a load of this guy." He's probably microchipped though, so it may only be a matter of time before his original owners find him and accuse Mayu of cat theft 💀

Jameow is very well-behaved at the vet. Nyace runs up and down the walls. Minya uh... Mayu is about to find out she can't afford his insurance /j

Mayu still has cat allergies, she is in kitty heaven and allergy hell at the same time 💔
