this is a real sentence that was said by a during an snl skit by the guy in the picture (norm macdonald) in response to a real news story - specifically, the murder of brandon teena, a trans man, whose death macdonald is mocking here. this very sentence that has now been turned into a meme prompted a trans rights org to picket the nbc in absence of any apology from them (the statement here slightly misquotes the sentence, but you can find video demonstrating that the wording in the image is what he said). i've used this as a reaction image in the past when i didn't know the history behind it but i think more people should know and we should stop using it like this

4 months ago I posted about how Russian-financed media outlet Red Fish was intermixing pro-Palestina messages and general leftist news with more subtle anti-Ukraine and pro-Russian propaganda.
A lot has happened since then in pro-Palestinian activism in Western Europe (or the part of it that I see anyway). There has been a lot of very valid criticism of Zelensky’s frequent pro-Israel messages as well as other things that are truly shitty about Zelensky.
Unfortunately there has also been more and more ‘Ukraine is run by literal Nazis’ misinformation bullshit, as well as a small but growing number of pro-Palestinian activists putting out literal pro-Russian messages and Z imagery and conspiracy theories with a few swerving off right into Q-Anon shit. .
In short: the propaganda is working. That isn’t all thanks to Red fish. They’re simply the most prominent and visible propaganda outlet targeting pro-Palestinian activists in this way. The rest of the propaganda and misinformation pipeline is probably constructed of social media accounts that pose as individuals.
I think everyone in pro-Palestinian activism should be very concerned about this. Comrades are succumbing to misinformation funnels that were designed specifically for them. An imperialist state power is trying to take advantage of an anti-imperialist movement, using their isolation and completely valid anger at ‘western’ powers to drive them towards supporting a horrific dictator.
Russian propagandists don’t give a shit how much this will hurt and potentially tear apart pro-Palestinian activist movements. As long as there is pro-Russian propaganda being spread, it doesn’t matter to them who gets hurt. Pro-Palestinian activists are just a tool to hit opponents with and they don’t give a shit if the tool breaks in the process.
Treat this like your movement is under attack, because it is.

Respectfully, the word you’re searching for here is “antisemitism”.
Most of the west state leaders have “frequent pro-israeli messages”. Insisting on Zelensky being some sort of “zionist agent” to trigger knee-jerk support to Russia while Zelensky politics have like zero to little to do with Palestine is obviously antisemitic. Conspiracy theories involving Jews are antisemitic. Seeing “zionists” everywhere but in Israel/Judea/Palestine/Jordan in conflicts that has virtually nothing to do with Palestine, and typically accusing Jewish people of plotting against humanity and being “literal nazis” absolutely is antisemitism 101.
I feel like leftists and anarchists in North America and Europe shall start to wonder how the never ending and ongoing stenches of antisemitism in western-centric “anti-imperialism” and pro-Palestinian struggles are a giant boulevard, if not 4-lane one sided highway for other empires/imperialists and local fascists to carry their full of bulshit military trucks convoy behind the dumbfound eyes of their subjugated selfs.
In our political and historical context : antisemitism is the matrix of all conspiracy theories. And you will regularly find it anywhere powerful and wealthy people (but also like actual empires, and the fascist clowns who support them) try to convince you they are the “real victims” where they are actually the oppressors, the exploiters, the invaders, the attackers. Etc.
