Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away… An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the cat’s funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]

For those who haven’t read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. She’s now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.

ahhh gentle pure tama!! <333 for those down about tama’s passing, a good ending–the station has found a successor to her! another calico named nitama (literally TAMA TWO) who was irl buddies with tama off duty AND was a kitty receptionist while tama was around (yes there are RECEPTIONIST CATS at this train station bless it there is a full cat bureaucracy and job market). nitama is pretty chill about the hat and while not as serene as tama was, will undoubtedly come into it with age and experience.

Here’s my Italian Easter Bread. I made individual loaves and didn’t put glaze on them.  Once they cooled, I put plastic eggs filled with jellybeans in half of the loaves. I’m so proud of how they turned out!

So here we are with a very nice, comfortable and casual looking komon! Even though we’ve had some similar looking kimono in our feed lately (*cough cough* repeating flower patterns *cough cough*), I wanted to point this one out especially for it’s particular design quality.

You’ll notice that the red flowers on this kimono are really only just a tiny shade different from the rest of the kimono. But by adding some shading in the petals, and by framaing the flowers with a contrasting colour (re and green are contrasting colours), they are made to look as though they ‘pop’ out more. 

The dark blue obijime alludes to the darker petals and makes their colour feel more saturated, while the brighter green obi and bright blue obiage help brighten the palette. 

We keep it casual with a simple obidome with some wonderfully matching tones, and ante up the sophistication with a simple white collar. Well put together!
