Now someone do it to this prick
Health insurance industry leaders leaned on the US Department of Justice to prosecute accused UnitedHealthcare CEO assassin Luigi Mangione.
According to reporting by Joe Marino, Ben Kochman and Matt Troutman last week, health insurance leaders pressured the DOJ to make an example
”I knew one day I’d have to watch powerful men burn the world down – I just didn’t expect them to be such losers"
- Rebecca Shaw
i do not want to live in a world where a pathetic, evil loser like OJ Simpson can murder two innocent human beings (one of which was his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, whom he abused their entire marriage), and have all evidence pointing toward him + an audio recording of him confessing to the double-homicide, yet he still escapes life in prison and leads a long, free life… but a modern day Robinhood like Luigi Mangione that (allegedly) popped a monster who made billions off denying people healthcare (killing thousands/edit: millions), can’t also be let free.
seeing the people in power scramble to villainize Luigi and paint him as a danger to society, try to convince us that we should be scared just bc they are? babe, it isn’t working. use your brains. that billionaire shitass was shot IN DEFENSE of us bc he was diabolical. how detached do you have to be to not understand how every day people are not going to be afraid of someone who (allegedly) murdered a billionaire making his wealth off our demises?
And it's sickening because so much of the development of HIV medicine has been publicly funded. We fucking paid for this research dozens of times over; without that public funding there would be almost nothing new for pharmaceutical companies to ransom I mean sell in the first place.
Oh, gee, I wonder why making people put their lives at risk for the economy might make them consider ideologies other than capitalism?
We were socialists the entire time!
Wow, I mean I realize they’re out of touch, but just wow… EVERY Millennial I know is socialist… Like even the ones who lean towards Krazy Konservative are actually, at a base level, socialist. The Kid seriously wants to start a fucking COMMUNE on The Farm. AND has enough people in enough odd ball trades/training who are seriously interested, that I honestly think they really could pull it off, if only she could convince the uncle to go for it.
There’s been a notable shift in rightwing propaganda this summer that they’ve stopped using “socialist” and started using “Marxist.” You see it everywhere. I’m willing to bet they got some data showing that the word “socialist” simply doesn’t have the scaring power it used to. They berated Obama for being a socialist (if only). It’s the label they’ve hung on pretty much every progressive idea for decades, because it scared white people (and enraged them, as Reagan was able to couple the idea of “socialism” with POC, and racist white people will refuse direct benefits if those benefits also go to POC) effectively into voting against Democrats.
But an open socialist ran for president in 2016 and there are multiple people who are explicitly socialist in Congress now. It’s not giving the GOP the old fear boost it used to.
You’re also overlooking something really obvious.
The internet.
Very few Americans have a passport but the vast majority have an internet connection. They’ve spoken to people who live in Europe or Australia or Asia. They have friends they’ve never met who grew up in countries where the word “socialist” just means “moderate left”. They’re seeing what socialist governments look like in their friends’ countries.
30 years ago you could say “He’s a socialist!” And have your average American voter quaking in their boots but now they’ll just blink and say “And? So is my friend Inge and her government pays HER to go to college! She doesn’t have a hundred thousand dollars of debt for her degree! If he’s gonna give me that I’ll vote for the socialist!”
I’d like to bring this post back in the wake of the TikTok ban
has someone done this yet
The second amendment right was originally proposed by James Madison to allow the creation of civilian forces that can act against a tyrannical federal government, its not just us having guns. It’s specifically us having guns and using them to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government.
We’re just finally using it for its intended purpose.
Trump is appointing three washed-up actors as "ambassador to Hollywood" in order to bring back the "Golden Age of Hollywood". Which has historical precedent: there was an ambassador to Hollywood in the Golden Age, too. His name was Georg Gyssling and he was sent by Hitler to monitor the activities of Hollywood studios. To make sure their films didn't say anything anti-Nazi, resulting in many attempts at anti-fascist films being shut down by the Hays Code. Just a fun historical Hollywood fact there
