Ok so I have this theory that Marella is related to Brante. 

Proof 1: they’re both Pyrokinetics.

Pyrokinesis isn’t exactly a common ability so it would make sense if they’re related because your ability is usually based off your genetics. 

Proof 2: Brante’s name was redacted in Unlocked.

I don’t see why Brante’s last name would be redacted for no reason. My guess is that it’s Redek but Shannon Messenger didn’t want to spoil that because it’s going to play a part in the later books, and I think we all know how good she is a plot twists.

Proof 3: Marella’s short story at the end of Stellarlune. 

In Marella’s short story, Fintan says he knows what actually happened to her mom. I think that the “incident” had something to do with the Neverseen and Brante tried to kill her as revenge or a punishment for something. Or maybe she found out Brante was with the Neverseen and he had to kill her so she wouldn’t tell anyone. 

Proof 3: Shannon Messenger likes to make side characters important.

Multiple times Shannon has taken a side character and made them play an important role in the books. Like Wylie, Amy, etc. So it kinda just makes sense that she’d do that with Marella, you know?
