sorry, i just need to rant for a second. don’t read if you’re not interested or whatever.

i want to say that the strongest person i have ever met was one of my aunts, on my mothers side of the family. my mothers side of the family is kind of awful tbh, they’re all the stereotypical christian lgbtq+ haters , literally. every single fucking time i visit them they have something bad to say about that community.

i look up to my aunt because last week she brought her girlfriend of two years, which none of us knew about, to a family gathering and invited all of them to her wedding.

she’s no longer welcome at any gatherings, all of the cliche bullshit happened with the whole “god will save you” shit and “it’s just a phase” even though she’s twenty seven.

i’m really proud of her though because that was so incredibly brave and i’ve decided i can’t live my whole life in the dark about who i am to anyone.

i used to be scared that they’d hate me and exile me , i cried at night thinking that they wouldn’t love me anymore, but i’ve realized i don’t fucking care. if they’re going to treat my community and/or me with that little respect then i don’t want any part of their family.

so i’m doing it tonight, i’m sending out an email to every member of my family telling them i’m a boy. i’ve said that if they don’t want to respect that it’s okay, but i will have no part of a family that is so horrible to people who just want to be themselves.
