"So I've been doing something at the end of the show every night and it's being dedicated to my brother Liam Payne. Rest in peace, I hope you're seeing this. We're in your hometown tonight, Wolverhampton. This is for you, Liam."
— Zayn at his show in Wolverhampton tonight (credit)
I have nothing appropriate to say.
You know what really pisses me off? The rewriting of history. People want to pretend like the only reason Liam Payne was getting hate was because of the allegation. But I call bullshit. 99% of the people hating him online had no idea about the allegations or didn't care. They were bullying him online because they thought he was "cringe."
The latest wave of bullying online, which I saw weeks before his death, had nothing to do with the allegations. It had to do with him dancing at Niall's concert. The hate started with the Logan Paul interview, where Liam didn't say anything that warranted being dogpiled by the internet. And it never stopped.
Now, people want to rewrite history and pretend Liam wasn't bullied and humiliated for just being himself because it was "cringe." But you can't because that's the truth. Imagine bullying someone online because you thought he danced weirdly or was cringe. Then they get all defensive afterwards, sprouting bullshit about how they're "allowed to have an opinion." Yeah, and your opinion has real-life consequences.
Some of you want to pretend like Liam Payne hadn't been the internet's punching bag for years. Enough.
Thank youuuuu
“Liam is piggy backing off of the others success”
“Liam’s tiktok is so cringe, he’s clearly just doing it for attention”
“Liam always talks about one direction bc it’s the only time he was relevant”
On and on and on and on. To the point where when I told people Liam was my favourite (before the allegations even came out) people would kind of wince and be like “really?”
The podcasts which spoke about him and how his music compared to the rest (yes the Kurtis Connor one), the constant hate towards his dancing and strip that down (which isn’t the worst song to exist im so sorry) etc etc etc
People act like he didn’t see this too? The man said multiple times that he knew he was the least liked and it was clear it impacted him negatively. He constantly defended why he spoke on one direction.
The most telling thing is how when that stupid Logan Paul podcast came out, everyone was riding on how he acted and what he said and made fun of him. No one mentioned or spread the word about his apology and how he checked himself in after. Hell even Louis had to come out and defend him bc some people can’t just STFU.
And it pisses me off how now everyone is giving him his flowers. NOW people realizes he was just supporting his friends. NOW people realize he was genuinely struggling with addiction and was open about dealing with it. NOW people understand he was keeping the fandom alive bc he was SIXTEEN when it started and it’s a HUGE change for anyone to endure. NOW people see how he had a sense of humour but they were shoved so far up their own asses to see he was being funny and not cringe. It took his damn funeral for people to realize that the boys didn’t hate him.
And I will never forgive those people for that.
child stars dying young directly or indirectly as a result of fame-related trauma is just so especially sad. for me it’s the tragedy of how kids don’t really know what they’re signing up for when they ask to be famous, especially back in 2008. liam’s mistakes, addiction, and bad decisions, are all so inarguably tied into his career and the carelessness of the entertainment industry. the 31 year old man that just died is the same 16yo boy that was given drugs and alcohol to keep him quiet while he was being overworked and exploited. corey haim, river phoenix, judy garland, and so many more. you can think what you want about liam and have your own opinions, but don’t lose sight of the larger picture that he was a victim of.
same vibes
all the older boybands & their members (mcfly, busted, nsync, backstreet boys, take that & robbie) posting tributes is also really doing me in. like there is no precedent for this, so many of these bands had a member or two who struggled hard with addiction but they are still here and the shock in their statements is palpable. this was just never supposed to happen, these boys were supposed to get to grow old together
👋
Fave Niall Horan songs??
this is a tough one 🤣 as i really love all of his songs. but Save My Life is at the top FOR SURE. You Could Start a Cult. On the Loose. Heartbreak Weather. Flicker. Still….can i just say all of his songs 🤣🤣

at what point in history do you think americans stopped having british accents
Actually, Americans still have the original British accent. We kept it over time and Britain didn’t. What we currently coin as a British accent developed in England during the 19th century among the upper class as a symbol of status. Historians often claim that Shakespeare sounds better in an American accent.
whAT THE FUCK
I’m too tired for this
Always add in the video that according to linguists, Native southern drawl is a slowed down British.
T’ be or not t’be, y’all.
Fun fact: Same thing happened with the French accent. French Canadians still have the original French accent from the 15th century.
Êt’e ou n’pô zêt’e, vous z’auts.
I’ve been trying to find this post for months. I’m freakishly obsessed with this and want the truth of what early colonists sounded like.
aclfestival: All smiles when we’re with Niall 😎
