"She always hangs around here," Sage tells him softly, letting go of his hand to instead sit on the concrete, the rough surface still holding some of its warmth from the sun, though the stars are already beginning to appear in the navy-colored sky.

Suna moves to kneel beside her, reaching out towards the shaggy cat in front of them, currently looking at him warily. Sage rubs her fingers together, speaking gently to the curious creature until she eventually takes a couple steps closer.

The two of them can't help their quiet laughter when the cat sniffs his fingers, and then immediately begins rubbing her cheeks against the spikes on his bracelet.

"I think we might have to take her home," Suna muses, just as the cat moves to rub against Sage's shin, purring audibly while her tail sways contentedly all the while.

the grocery bag cutting into your fingers. the difficult jar. the story you have been carrying all day. the fear you cannot make sound reasonable.

“give it to me” can mean so many things in the mouth of someone who loves you. let me take what is awkward. let me make room for what hurts. let me hold this while you rest your hands. and perhaps you only loosen your grip enough for them to take one handle. still, the relief.

love does not always remove what is heavy. sometimes it simply refuses to let you carry it alone. ♡︎

a reminder that it's okay not to have intricate lore with your f/o. you don't have to figure out how you first met, how you became friends, how your relationship with them grew, how you knew that you'd stick together forever. it's okay to immediately jump to the part of your story when you are already together without the need for a back story. it's okay to draw yourselves together even if you haven't explored how you would even get there in the first place. it's okay to just exist with them without having to give justification as to how you came to be together. your f/o is already happy to simply exist with you.

imagine being long term (not childhood friends), best friends with atsumu. you've seen and heard all the media allegations of each person he may or may not be dating, he never mentions them to you. you're not even sure if it's true or not. but it's at your place he ends up every weekend when he's not on away games.. you sit together at your couch having snacks and just enjoying each other's company, cooking together, playing games, sometimes catching a nap bathed in late afternoon sun. he hugs you tightly goodbye, as usual, and then he's off again. sometimes, he even stays over and you share your bed together. sometimes there is a chaste kiss goodbye pressed to your cheek, sometimes one to his. he's there for you in your best and worst life moments.

you've never seen him as more than your closest friend because, frankly, after everything you've been through you're done with romance. and you're not really sure he sees you as more than that either.

little do you know all he thinks about on away games is you. all the souvenirs and new snacks he wants to bring back to you. all the little trinkets that will make you smile. how many more episodes are left of that show you've been watching together. what he could do to make you notice him, notice how his heart yearns for you.
