one of the best things about the transition from the original pjo series to son of neptune is realizing that percy is really hot. when we read his first person pov, he never really thought much of himself, and so most of us didn’t think about percy’s looks because he never mentioned them besides the basic hair/eye color. but then in son hazel mistakes him for a roman god and reyna is crushing on him hard and even frank’s like wow this dude is good looking. and sure we all wanted percy to be hot because that’s what you do when you form an attachment to the main male character but hearing it from other characters too? I feel like a proud mom <3

thinking abt how meg whatever in trials of apollo (haven't read it) is 12 and acts like a child and yet hazel throughout hoo is 13 and has been through a lot of undiscussed trauma and is instantly very Adult-y and you easily can forget she's only 13 and is promoted to praetor (rightfully so!!! she is so much stronger than anyone gives her credit for) also at a young age ....

tell me why when we met percy & annabeth at 12/13 they were extremely childish as well with lots of bickering and playful jokes and clear reminders they are children meanwhile once again hazel's personality is serious with only MOMENTS of childishness and jokes and is put in a relationship with frank who is 16 ... like i still don't understand

and yeah i guess u could argue hey she lived in a different era and as a result was much more mature but also like if she was able to adjust to 'their era' the way she did then i think she would be able to be childish every once in a while . like don't even get me started on how annoying the way he went about her being from a different time period was it fills me w so much rage.

anyway bottom line is hazel levesque is a character that deserves so much better and was written so poorly with several racist undertones and the fact of the matter is that whenever big 3 kids are discussed she's swept under the rug because this fandom just loves to sweep characters of color under the rug like why do u all hate the single black girl so much huh she has done NO wrong

you guys don't even care about hazel, whenever you talk about the trauma of the hades kids, you're almost always referring to nico, as if hazel wasn't born at an awfully shitty time for a little girl like her and she wasn't literally crushed to death. both nico and hazel are kids who went through traumatic shit but only one of them gets talked about... and even then, nico is blatantly out of character and evolved into less of a character and person and more of a ball of trauma when he never acted as such in canon
