The call came in from the league's front office. It apparently wasn't ideal for one of the core faces of the league—if State Farm commercials, Gatorade sponsorship deals, and a MVP finalist bid last season were anything to go by—to fail a randomized drug test after a post-failed playoff run and then immediately go off the grid and enter a messy divorce. “Image rehab,” they said. So the league called the Steelers general manager, who called the head coach and the community outreach team, who then called a contact at Middle Hill Creative Center for Adults.
They’ve been looking for a volunteer coach for their four-week flag football summer league. Would line up perfectly with the start of training camp. Get your face back out there. Show people you’re still a good guy.
Frank didn’t think that was him anymore, and yet…he says yes, and there’s a prickling feeling in the back of his neck that something’s about to change.

not seeing a lot of people on here talking about ICE murdering another man yesterday. His name was Lorenzo Salgado Arajou. He was a Mexican man living in Huston Texas. He was killed at age 52 and lived the past 35 years here in the USA, and was in the process of obtaining a work permit. He was shot and killed during a traffic stop that ICE claims was part of a targeted operation, and claimed he was “weaponizing his vehicle”- the same claim ICE agents made when they shot and murdered Renee Good.
During the stop, Lorenzo had 3 coworkers with him in his truck who have all been taken into ICE custody.
His family described Lorenzo as a hardworking family man who didn’t deserve to be killed. All he wanted was to provide for his wife and see his sons become great people. His eldest son recognized his father by his cries and pleas when trying to identify who the victim was.
The Salgado Araujo family has set up a gofundme to help with funeral and legal costs, and to help keep their family supported since Lorenzo was the sole provider.

Donnie says it’s bad luck to toast without a drink. He says it three times, actually, and Mel’s pretty certain the last one is directed at her, shaking her head at Ellis’ repeated offer of champagne.
“Its prosecco,” Parker clarifies. “It’s cheap as shit, c’mon. I didn’t get the good stuff for Donnie.”
It’s Langdon who helps himself to another glass off the tray, and Mel slips away before anyone else can say something. The bartender looks a bit confused when she asks for a seltzer, trying to pitch a brightly colored bottle before she points to the two cans of Coke stuffed in the back of the mini fridge. He gives her both for the price of one, which she’s pretty sure is because they expired back in March, but it’s still better than nothing. At least it gives her something to do with her hands when Langdon slips in beside her at the bar, his fresh glass already halfway gone.
“Who’d you think is next?”
“Hm?”
Langdon waves his hand over at Donnie in the middle of the room, accepting a bruising hug from Dana. “Everybody’s leaving,” he says, yet he doesn’t seem to sound too concerned about it. “You next?”
Mel frowns. “I have another year left-“
“Right, yeah. After that.” He glances back towards her, and despite the smile on his face, he doesn’t look all too happy at the thought.
“I don’t know,” she answers honestly, although she’s finding that she very much wishes she did. “I guess I’ll see.”
Langdon’s smile grows wider, and he shakes his head sharply.
“Nah, you wouldn’t go leaving me, right?” He leans in closer, until she can see the pink on his cheeks even in the dim bar lighting. “You wouldn’t break my heart, Mel.”
She thinks he tries to to whisper that last part, but the music and the shouted conversations are echoing too loudly around them, so the words have weight. Hot and pointed when they hit her cheek, so much that she has to look down at the sticky floor, their matching shoes lined up side by side.
“No,” she mutters, and she hopes it’s too soft to here in a place like this.
Langdon knocks his drink into her soda, elbow pressing against hers just too long before he slips away again.

Her first diary was a Moleskin that she bought at the bookstore in Carytown. She wanted to visit the cat that napped in the window and thought this would be how she could get all these emotions out in a positive way. They would all live inside the pages, and no one would ever know the times she felt frustrated or upset, when she wasn’t thankful and wished her life was different.
Mel trusted her diary and its privacy more than anyone.
That was, until she met Frank Langdon.
