I cannot get over how beautiful this is. Kara almost– ALMOST– goes into best friend mode here: the way she says “You’re not seriously considering it” like she knows Lena better than that (she does).

But then she backs off because she lost that right and she knows it. She might know Lena better than that, but she doesn’t have the right to use that against Lena now because she got to know Lena under false pretenses, and because she remembers their exchange at the Fortress of Solitude.

“You don’t get to tell me who or what I am anymore.”

And Kara doesn’t. She backs off, and leaves Lena to make her own choices. But what really gets me is… whether she realizes it or not, leaving Lena to make her own choices is an offer of trust.

Yes, it’s an acknowledgement of new boundaries between them, but where in S2 Lena got a “you are too good to follow in your family’s footsteps”, this time she gets a “please be careful.” So not only is Kara trusting Lena, she is confirming the fact that Lena’s well-being is her priority, not Lena’s actions.

And on a side-note: spectacular acting. Seriously breathtaking.
