It’s my favourite month y’all! And it’s indubitably, the time for my annual #31daysofgratitude posts, a tradition I started since I turned 30. #day2 : It took a while for me to just be myself and stop trying to meet other’s unspoken and spoken expectations. It’s no fun when those spoken expectations are just negative, tacky bullshits. It’s toxic and hard to get away from it in certain crowds. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The good news is I learned that’s just not who I am and I won’t chime in with that noise. It’s not about the streotypes nonsense thing, it’s a respect thing. Some people always going to shame and ridicule to feel better about their own shitty self. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have found higher caliber friends in my life by maintaining respect for myself and others without going dark and tacky. It’s an old and simple lesson, to make good friends, be a nice person to people. Other nice people notice. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Some people are just stuck at a phase where they are lashing out. I met someone who was quite similar to me, we both were two opinionated extroverts that shared the same temperament and the same positive outlook in things (He might have some Leo in his birth-chart! Lol!). Oh, he left me quite speechless that time he sought advice from me. Asking me what's next in life, what else to chase after. It's pretty unusual for me to not be able to respond and give him a good advice back then. Because unlike me, this man was more mature and he had achieved a lot. Hate to say this but I think he's in some dreaded stage of "mid-life" crisis. I've been giving it some thoughts and here is my advice, friend :) "You are getting too caught up in things that don't matter." Your age doesn't matter! Your past/future doesn't matter! What matter is the present, right at this moment! I think the key to reduce/eliminate these "restlessness" is to keep being grateful. You are alive, you are in a functional relationship, you are surrounded with a lot of blessings! Like you told me that time, perhaps contributing more to the society is the name of the game now. Which is a great thing to do in removing self-centeredness and introducing the notion that they are people who are so happy that you exist! That they have you in their life! That matters! I "feed" myself with positivity as a way to "heal" any restlessness I'm feeling. Be responsible with our thoughts, stop blaming circumstances. Being positive is honest and ordinary, really.
