I was today years old when I found out I've been doing this wrong...
I used to think I was a petty bitch, but Miley Cyrus takes the cake!
Overstimulated: stimulate physiologically or mentally to an excessive degree
New Year
I know as we are coming upon the new year, most people are posting their new year's resolutions. I have some goals & aspirations, but the main one is to be true to myself. I have been through and grown so much over the past few years. I want to continue to do that on my terms! Here's to 2023.
Emotional abuse: non-physical behaviors that are meant to control, isolate, or frighten you
Bad Luck
If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any at all. My daughter started running a high fever the night before school started, she missed the first 2 days. The following week I got sick. I left work early Tuesday and called in Wednesday and Thursday. I had a horrible experience at the emergency room Wednesday night and think I had a gallbladder or heart attack Friday when I went back into work. I was so sick I lost 10 pounds in a week & my BP was ridiculously high for 2 weeks. THEN last week, my daughter got sent home with head lice! I had never dealt with that in my entire life until now. I had to treat myself as well! I was going into work to make up some hours that Friday evening & I fell off the porch & sprained my ankle. This week has been a nightmare. The school lost my daughter for about 30 minutes. The bus had broken down & no one knew about it & we wrecked my car. I was supposed to have a rental, but they do not have one available until tomorrow. I received a phone call today to schedule my boyfriend's neurology appointment in St. Louis while I was in an important meeting. Once I got out of my meeting, I called the office back & stayed on hold for 2 hours just for them to tell me they had called in error & are still waiting for the doctor to review his case....I HAVE HAD IT. Please say a prayer for my little family as we are struggling right now! TIA
Nursing
I work as a MDS Coordinator (RN, BSN) in a long-term care facility. That used to be my only responsibility & there were 2 of us. I became so efficient at my job that I was asked to take on another role of infection preventionist. It seemed reasonable at the time, so I took the 16 hour course & eventually passed the test; however, I was not offered a pay increase for doing so. During the COVID-19 outbreak in our facility, we lost 22 residents. Our census went from the 100s to the 70s. Because of the decrease in resident, the facility made some changes like making our rehab wing private rooms. Due to the nursing shortage, my partner was pulled onto the floor & it was recently decided she would not be replaced. Unfortunately, it was after they made us responsible for medical records as well. I have taken on 3 roles and the majority of my partner's restorative role along with her half of the building (oh & earned my bachelor's degree!) with only one small increase in pay (other than my annuals). I also take one weekend on call a month & am often required to come in due to staffing issues. I recently discovered a LPN that works here is making more money than me & I am making under the amount I am worth for my experience according to their pay scale. Am I wrong to be frustrated? I feel overworked & under paid, but I am afraid this is what the medical field is coming to...
VENTING
Co-parenting with a narcissist is by far the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. My daughter had been sick since last Saturday. I thought it was just allergies because she wasn’t running a fever at my house, but I took my boyfriend to the doctor the Wednesday she went back to her dad’s, and he was diagnosed with strep. I messaged her father to tell him that if she complains of a sore throat to take her to the doctor. All I got was a thumbs up…so this Saturday night, he messaged me “Zoey still isn’t feeling very good.” He informed me she was running a low-grade fever and he was giving her Tylenol. This was 2 days before school started, so I told him that he should probably take her to the doctor. When she video called me that night, I could tell her throat was bothering her; however, he still didn’t bother to take her to get checked out before she came home. Sunday night she was running a 102.1 fever and I had to take her to Urgent Care to get antibiotics for guess what?!?! Strep. Now she has missed the first 2 days of school and I am extremely frustrated at her dad. I had to call in from work Monday to take care of her all while her father refuses to pay court-ordered child support & threatens to take me back to court… But my daughter finally got to go to school today & I hope she has the best day ever! Here’s to 3rd grade!
Dyslexia
My daughter really struggles in school & I never did. I remember that I hated reading until I discovered the Twilight saga in high school, but that it’s. I have some major concerns about her having dyslexia & I’m not sure what I need to do about it. I have discussed this with her father, and he just blows it off with “I was in class for stupid kids & I turned out fine". (Well, we all have our own opinions on that buddy. Lol.) She is going into the 3rd grade & tonight is her open house. I plan on bringing it up to her teacher immediately, but do any parents out there have suggestions? I do not want my daughter to grow up hating school! If there is something that I can do to help her, I want to start doing it now...Her 2nd grade teacher had me convinced to do some testing on her last year, but the woman who was in charge of completing the testing said “I think we are jumping the gun a little here” & talked us out of it. There were excuses about letting school out early while she was in kindergarten because of COVID-19 & she wasn’t the only child struggling; however, she is still doing a lot of little things I thought she would grow out of. I’ll take any advice I can get! Thanks in advance
Definitely not an artist, but it does help relieve my stress🤷🏼♀️ My daughter colored a few of these...
