Leo said that he never found out the reason about why Neymar left, but surely he must have some thoughts about it. He seemed really sad when he mentioned it in Neymar’s documentary. So what do you think he thinks is the reason for Neymar’s departure?

well, yeah bestie! leo always says he doesn't know the motive ney left. and he is completely genuine when he says it. but i think that if ney didn't tell HIM the motive, he should figure out that is something else here :')

i know i'm a ficwriter, i know i'm biased and sometimes i'm delusional BUT, LOOK, LISTEN everyone on earth says neymar left because he was feeling he'd never be the man of the team because of leo. how can leo not know this was the motive then? so i really think it might be something else. and no idk what it is exactly.

also: leo literally said "I want you back. In two more years I'm gone and you are going to be the 10." the sad thing is ney actually did regret leaving and tried to come back. barcelona didn't do enough for him and it left leo pissed as we already know. but i think that if he regretted going to psg and wanted to come back, it couldn't be about the "being the man of the team" stuff. so I DON'T KNOW 😭 what do ya think?

not to jump in on this but my thoughts/speculation on this have always been that neymar left bc he thought he wanted to be the main man but also bc that’s what everyone expected him to want. I remember that was smthing a lot of ppl used to jab at him back then that neymar had never led a team to anything, he was reliant on messi and suarez, the weakest out of msn etc. everyone expects footballers to want to be the sole star of the team. I feel like neymar just in general is someone who does a lot of things bc he thinks they’re expected of him esp when he was younger, he’s talked a lot abt the pressure of expectations on him and it makes sense to me that this would be part of it. being the main man is perhaps something he became to feel was expected of him and smthing he should want

and (this is leaning more into speculation here) his dad’s influence as well… in terms of neymar’s prestige and marketability therefore potential profit it would be better for him to go to psg. or even w perhaps a kinder lens it’s smthing his dad thought neymar deserved

like is it kinda dumb to do a huge life changing thing bc ppl expect it of u? maybe? but also idk it gets messy when maybe part of u does want it (or at least wants to want it). neymar never showed a single complaint or suggestion he wanted to leave in his first two years at psg. I think that makes sense in terms of him rlly trying to live up to ppl’s expectations but everything comes to a certain point where it becomes clear that u actually don’t want this at all.

but I think (again pure speculation) that this is what leo means when he says he never knew why neymar left. I think leo is a very straightforward person if he heard neymar’s explanations but that didn’t line up w what he felt (or knew) to be what neymar wanted I don’t think he’d accept that as the truth. I think leo is also not as susceptible to outside pressure as neymar is and rather than his brain doing the insane loops the fans do to try understand he would instead simply take it as neymar just never fully explaining to him why he left. he just like… doesn’t get it? and I don’t think neymar would be the kind of person to rlly sit him down and try to explain to him
