A bit out of order but I wanted to post a little update. I got a bunch of new buddies that I will share about later!
I decided to finally do something about the duckweed in my tanks. It was too much! The duckweed was blocking out the light from plants below and making it difficult to see.
Duckweed is so difficult to get rid of but I've done it before and I can do it again. On the left, is the before pic. I scooped out all the floating plants with a net and carefully rinsed each red root floater before adding it back in. At first I was using a bowl of water to rinse the floaters but that quickly became contaminated with duckweed. I switched to rinsing the floaters in the sink which worked great! Over the course of a few weeks and one clogged sink later, I managed to restore my tank to a near duckweed free existence.
It looks so much better now! There are still a few stragglers but it much easier to manage than before and hopefully I can pull them all out someday!
