❝ You understand wanting to protect what you care about , don’t you ? You’d do anything . ❞
Turning away Puck crossed his arms, starring silently at his flowers as the twitched and drooped to reflect his current mood. He hated harming them, but his magic at times was simply something he couldn’t control.
“Of course I do, Chess. This business is important to you, I understand. I’ll do what I can no to bring anymore riff raff around.”
Taken back by the sudden touch Puck starred wide eyed at his boss, hands shaking as the dishes fell to the ground and shattered between them. Glass scattered about the polished floor he barely noticed it, still focused on the man before him.
“I-I know it’s different but-” Jaw flapping he shook his head, reaching up to rub at his tear stricken face. “I’m sorry, I a-apologize, Cheshire. I-”
Brows knitted together, Cheshire sighed and moved his hands to cup Puck’s face. He pressed his lips gently to both cheeks, catching the tears clinging there, before pressing a kiss to his forehead.
"Puck.." His voice was almost a purr, soft and gentle. "You don’t have to apologize to me. Idiot…" He smiled down at him, tilting his face down to capture Puck’s lips with his own.
“But I-” His lips were caught and if it were physically possible his eyes would have grown even larger than they already were. After a moment however they slipped closed and he found himself sliding hands up to grip at Cheshires wrists.
The flowers which had only moments ago been wilted sprung to life with vigor, their petals opening to fill their surroundings with bright color. The flowers however were not the only things which sprung to life.
Puck was one who often prided himself on being able to keep his appearance completely human. From the tips of his ears to the lack of antlers he could be perceived as anything but abnormal. However, in that moment his disguise slipped. Rounded ears turned pointed and his hair parted slightly to expose what could be called ‘horns’ rather than antlers, his previous set having fallen out at the start of winter were only now beginning to grow back in the warmth of spring.
When the kiss was broken his eyes were still closed, mouth slightly agape as he leaned forward. It was only when he didn't find Cheshires mouth again lids slipped up slightly. “I-I’m sorry, uh-...”
