I want to ask her what kind of music she's listening to. Whether she made that scrunchie on her wrist herself. It looks like it's cut out of T-shirt fabric. I kind of want her to see me looking and ask why. "I really like your T-Shirt" I'd say. "Thanks." she'd answer and then we'd probably go awkwardly about our business. So maybe it's a good thing she doesn't see me. But I really want her to notice me. I mean, not me staring at her like a weirdo, but... My glasses fog up and I once again curse my terrible eyesight. It's bad enough, that I'm basically blind without them and that they sit weirdly crooked on my mask, but right now I must look like a complete idiot. Not that she'd notice. I hold my breath for a second, adjust my mask and I can see clearly again. Sort of. She shifts her legs so her weight is resting on the right instead of the left one, hand moving into her pocket. Her legs are really long. God. I turn my head, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. I don't think she's noticed me looking at her, but I still feel like I have to do something else. Check my phone. I should check my phone in case someone's texted me. No new messages. I'm not really surprised. And a little relieved too. I don't know when the train will arrive and I don't know, if she'll get on the same train as me. I could still have a chance. Her bangs fall into her face and I want to push them aside, so I can see her eyes again. I feel like a creep. Maybe I could just say hi? Yeah, much better idea, because addressing a complete stranger out of the blue is way more casual than complementing their clothing. Ugh. She looks up from her phone and my heart makes a small jump. But her gaze swipes right past me. I wish I was dressed differently. I wish I was wearing a pin, or my scrunchie, or that nice jacket I got at the thrift store in San Francisco. Maybe then she'd notice me. I stare at my converse, shuffling. My jeans are cuffed. That's at least something, I guess... But not enough. Maybe she's not even gay, maybe she's just a straight girl with really cool taste.

I'd always known I was different. Not in a "I'll discover my secret powers and save the world" kind of way, but in a "I really like looking at girls, when I should be looking at boys" kind of way. Funny, how it turned out that both was actually true.
