This is heart wrenching.
Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura) has been suffering from Dementia for years. She’s lots most of her money, the home she loved and there is a fight for her conservatorship
Her sister has set up a GoFundMe site for her. The link is at the very bottom of this post. Please share this information.
Read the article below and please donate if you can. Even a couple dollars will help.

Y’all went hard for Free Brittany over conservatorship now do the same for Nichelle
If you haven't read the article (for whatever reason), the TL;DR is that her son is in charge of her conservatorship, her manager and a friend claim he is abusing the power, and he's made counterclaims that they were abusing the fact that she has dementia to (essentially) steal from her.
The GoFundMe is set up by Nichelle's sister, to help maintain the conservatorship.
I do recommend you read the article for yourself, as it isn't clear (to me) who is in the wrong here, though there are some serious red flags. Such as her manager, Bell, claiming that he and Nichelle wanted to get married. Or that Bell had transferred her property (house) to his name.
The article includes lots of quotes from friends that are claiming (or context is being used to make it seem they are claiming) that the son is denying Nichelle's friends access to see/speak with her. Which, if true, is also highly suspicious.
But regardless of all that, the cost of this legal battle is draining what little funds she has left after years of mismanagement (everyone agrees her finances were mismanaged, but they all claim it wasn't them that did it).
Hence the GoFundMe.
For those who haven't experienced a loved one developing dementia, it is so hard to balance their need to feel independent with the need to keep them safe.
And, depending on the severity of the dementia (and other complicating factors), the person suffering from it can feel trapped, and may even become violent towards their caregivers (because they don't understand what's going on, and are locked in a fight/flight/freeze response). It is genuinely heartbreaking.
So... only those directly involved know the truth, though I suspect the son has good intentions and just perhaps hasn't always known how best to help his mom.
Anyway, support if you're able!
