She specifically enjoys writing about disability, queerness, and the way this has impacted her views on religion. She likes to write things about everything from garage sales to oil spills. Projects:

“The Coal That Burns With Us” — the first book in a duology about a young woman discovering she is the child of God as she tries to take down the black market. It also centers a different woman trying to do good deeds in alternate universes in Hell in order to get to Heaven. Read the full synopsis here. This book is in the beta reading stage.

“I Hear My Own Voice in My Head, But She Sounds Nothing Like Me” — a poetry chapbook about religious trauma in the Catholic Church. This book is in the writing phase (and will be for a while).

“Not Your Dog” — a book set in a world where assisted suicide is legal, about a girl with schizoaffective disorder after her relationship with her girlfriend just ended. Read the full synopsis here. This book is in the writing stage.

Ok you know that poem I forgot—I kind of remember how it goes. 😭 It was about being so happy you forget to take your medication and then being so sad you realize that you need it. I take my medication so idk where that idea came from, but I’m going to try and write it today and tomorrow!

I’m really upset with myself because I lost a poem I had when I deleted a social media account years ago on a different platform, and now I don’t have it anymore :( all my other poems are backed up though, and I’m working to try and find it or at the very least rewrite it, but I’m still bummed. 🥲 Trying to be optimistic and taking it as a life lesson tho!

What are your rules for naming a character? Personally for me it needs to have NO NAMES that are the same as someone I know in real life!! I don’t want to be reminded of people I know in real life in case it affects how I view the book. I don’t want to be reminded of REAL PEOPLE when writing. I want my characters to have a clean slate.

Synopsis for The Coal that Burns With Us, my wlw urban fantasy book:

Recent college graduate Audrey Hills Fairchild’s life is normal. It involves hanging out with her girlfriend and watching movies and TV shows—which she can predict the plot of before even sitting down to watch. Everything goes smoothly until she discovers she is the Messiah—a child of God who is reincarnated every 1,000 years. And in this lifetime, she must use her powers to defeat the black market.

And then there is Jean Shepperd. Jean Shepperd—who didn’t want to die. She doesn’t even remember how she died. But when she is sent to hell for killing God’s animals as a butcher, she must do good deeds in alternate universes in order to escape Hell and get back to Heaven. All she wants is to be reunited with her dog, Beef, who already passed away several years ago.

With Jean’s illegal love affair with an angel and Audrey getting kidnapped, the two must ban together to defeat evil and restore peace. But can all of that happen in a single lifetime? And if Audrey and Jean fail what is left for the next 1,000 years until the next Messiah?

Synopsis for Not Your Dog, my wlw dystopian book:

They would rather kill us than save us…

In an alternate universe where people can legally choose to go through with suicide because of mental illness, Billie Thorne debates choosing to end her own life at the young age of twenty-one. With borderline personality disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and a slew of other mental illnesses, she can surely be qualify to die…right? Not even her former girlfriend and current favorite person, Aurora Wright, can convince her to not want to kill herself.

Aurora Wright, the former love of her life, childhood best friend, favorite person, and the only person that knows about the priest who sexually assaulted Billie when she was little. After being dumped because of their failed toxic relationship, Billie now debates heavily upon suicide, and not even Aurora—or anyone—can talk her out of it as they navigate being strangers after splitting up.

After all, Billie is the only person who gets to determine if she lives or dies. The option should be easy, right?

This groundbreaking, one of a kind, novel sets up the idea that suicidal people should not be allowed to die.

Inspired by books such as Stone Butch Blues and other works, Not Your Dog deals with the reality of being a queer person fighting mental illness through an intersectional approach in what could very well soon be a modern America and Canada.

craving a wlw new adult book where the central plot is the two’s relationship but not in a way that is heavily sexualized or if it is it’s in like a slow burn kinda way. Any recommendations?? I really liked The Crimson Crown recently so preferably something like that!!

Every time I read a recommendation from booktok I am MASSIVELY disappointed. Trying to read Crier’s War rn, and it is off to a very slow start. I’m sure it’ll pick up soon but every time a fantasy book needs a whole timeline/glossary/etc. it feels more like a textbook than something I’d read for fun. I enjoy Priory of the Orange Tree though so hopefully I’ll enjoy this. I’m going to take a break from reading to do some sewing anyways!

I finished this book called “The Crimson Crown” which is a wlw fantasy book from the evil queen’s perspective, and she falls in love with another witch. One of my fav reads so far this year, highly recommend!! Gave it five stars and added it to both my comfort reads and my fav books list on Goodreads. :)

Finally reading “Girls Like Girls” by Hayley Kiyoko and I can’t stand the insta love but I also heard it’s going to be made into a movie so now I’m reading it because I need to read the book first. I don’t really like Sonya unfortunately but I have a feeling she will (hopefully) grow on me!!
