How do you read your multi-chaptered fics?
Entire work
Chapter by chapter
I only read one-shots
Clicky button
Chapter by chapter unless I know the archive is gonna be down. I usually have a back up fic that's the entire work just in case it goes down randomly
In 1944 a kitten named George (short for General Electric) was saved from drowning by a U.S. Navy crew member. George was then photographed and given a liberty card and detailed health record. Source.

For some reason “Respiratory system: He does alright” is sending me.
I just love that they put 69 for every number that they couldn't accurately account for.

Space is cool because it’ll get you further away from the terrors in the ocean.
Honestly they ocean might have giant spinning radiation balls. It honestly wouldn't surprise me.
Is this the cat v dog equivalent of that massage where you get wacked with a tree branch?
What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve bullshitted someone into believing?
When me and my siblings were much younger my dad owned a Volvo car with a computerized voice. It was a very deep voice that would give you warnings about the car’s status. “The boot (trunk) is not shut” being one I remember. Very creepy now I look back at it.
Me, my older brother and our dad would joke that the voice came from “a little man” inside the car. My younger sister was at an age where you could tell her anything and she would take it as gospel. She actually believed there was a tiny person with an extraordinarily deep voice living in the car. We kept it going for a long time until one day someone crashed into the vehicle and it ended up in the scrapyard. As she cried for the safety of the little man we had to tell her the truth. She was mad at us for weeks.
I convinced my kids that my car’s triangular, red, hazard button was a ‘self destruct’ button. This was initially to keep them from hitting it since it is a really prominently placed, large, red button. This worked out great until I quickly pulled the car over the other day to get a dog off the road. Threw on my hazards and jumped out of the car after the dog. I looked back and both kids are hitting the ditch.
Dealing with that kind of betrayal must have been hard for them. “Dad hit the self-destruct and ran away!!!”
Dad killed a dog, hit self-destruct on the car to remove all evidence and witnesses and ran away.
SHIT
I have a few:
Up until I was like. 16? I believed that when the ice cream truck played music it was because they were OUT of ice cream. My dad told us it was to try and cheer kids up by playing fun music.
In 10th grade, we convinced a friend that my service dog (a British black lab) barked with a British accent
My aunt fully believed Batman originated from the Adam West TV show in the 60’s, not the comics in 1939
Convinced someone at a church service project that sharknado was a real thing that happened and she just missed the coverage of it while she was in Utah
In high school, my friends and I convinced this one dude in our theatre department who no one liked that a parabola was a contagious skin condition.
Also I got a grown ass adult to believe that the song 'you're so vain' was actually about Carly Simon herself.
Shakespeare dramatists have zero chill:
(x)
I saw a production of Taming of the Shrew where the characters were gender-swapped, the aesthetic was 80s glam hair rock, and Petruchio was the lead singer of a band that played original songs between scenes.
Also, Petruchio was played by an incredibly hot Asian actress, and she winked at me.
Tie for my favorite tbh:
Macbeth as a post-apocalyptic mad-max style warlord, in which every faction spoke a different language. Subtitles were not provided. As the play went on everyone became progressively more mutated from radiation until Lord and Lady Macbeth were rabid dogs (Lady Macbeth’s descent into madness was chillingly well-done) and Birnam wood was played by extras dressed as mutated trees. Deeply entertaining, incredible feat of costumes and makeup.
vs.
The Comedy of Errors that was the adaptaion “Boys From Syracuse” but rewritten to be in 1960′s route 66, played out on a stage that consisted of a single run-down hotel room where there had been a double (hah!) booking. Absolute Masterpiece of Physical comedy and stage managment becuase they gradually destroy the set as the play reaches it’s fever-pitch of confusion. The finale was sung while parts of the stage were on fire.
I love batshit insane interpretations of Shakespeare with a burning passion.
MORRISTOWN, NJ—In an innovative, tradition-defying rethinking of one of the greatest comedies in the English language, Morristown Community
I got to see a rendition of Henry IV (mostly part 1 with some part 2) set in a women’s prison, so all the actors were women, an quite a few of them were ex-cons.
We did a Titus as Star Wars Vs Star Trek. Also one that was Romeo and Juliet as Marvel vs DC, with the characters not related to R+J as other cartoon characters. The friars were Rick and Morty, and the Prince, Benvolio, and Mercutio we're She-ra characters. (Mercutio was Seahawk, and it was excellent)
A porcupine’s Halloween present (+ original sound effects)
I had no idea giant porcupines made fucking precious sounds
THAT’S THE SOUND IT MAKES!?!?!?
UN-BE-FUCKING-LIEVABLE
We got asked if this is cute and okay. I can very happily say yes, this is stupid cute and those are happy porcupine noises.
One of my favorite things about doing zoo work was all the noises you never realize the animals make when they’re excited or interested in a new thing. Coatimundis squeak and snuffle, and giant porcupines make that sound.
Omgggg the sounds.
