So the subplot of Holes is that Kate Barlow deals with the politically-sanctioned execution of her black boyfriend—who unlawfully kissed a white woman who was in love with him!!!—by becoming a serial killer who targets racist/sexist white dudes who harassed her, were rejected, then went after her boyfriend as revenge from the depths of the “friend zone”.

And the technical writing of Holes is perfect. Like, it’s one of the most technically-perfect books ever written. Basically any plotting or pacing or characterization issue you’re having, read Holes and really study how Sachar did it. THE LIZARDS! THE LIZARDS.

The only thing Louis Sachar did wrong was having Zero name the canned peaches they find Sploosh. Because an innocent middle schooler (me it was me) was gonna remember that and several years later when she was in her own fit of desperation peaches and canned fruit will also save her with a tasty drinkable meal . (Iron transfusions made me too nauseous to eat real food and left my mouth tasting pennues).... Well *obviously * that dumb idiot is gonna call her new miracle smoothie Sploosh.

Then many years later, either a night of Jackbox or one of our movies around quarantine, I casually mentioned that I had a hankering for some Sploosh because I completely forgot regular people do not Imbibe. It took me far then I like to admit my friends were laughing more because for a little longer then a decade I had been basically cheerfully telling friends and family to have a glass of lady cum with me rather than that I was a nerd who still loved Holes.

Also made the mistake of trying to Google "Holes Sploosh" to prove it was in there. Honestly I need to stop talking.

The point is Sploosh was there for Zero and Stanley, then Sploosh was there for me. Viva La Sploosh !

For those intrested the recipe is as follows but feel free to mix it up it was born from whatever we had in the kitchen as god and Kissin Kate intended:

Ingredients:

1 can of pineapple chunks

Frozen Mango

Peach juice *

Ice if desired

*if you do not have any peach juice Im sure a can of peaches would be fine. Maybe add some other juice in tho to make sure it blends well. Or swap out the mangoes for frozen peaches and maybe try a white grape juice or something?

Equipment:

A blender

A glass

This is (unfortunately) one of those recipes that lacks measurements. I hate those kind and I am deeply sorry.

In a blender add the contents of a can of pineapple chunks, a good amount of still frozen mangos ( I usually just shake it in the blender then when it gets to a line in my blender I stop. Perhaps cup or a cup and a half?) and of course peach juice. As much or as little as you feel like you need to blend the mango. Know that you can add more as you blend. Then hit that thing into overdrive and get blending baybee!

Personally I like it kind of thick and sometimes I eat it with both a straw and a spoon. Like a cold sweet fruit soup.

I would really like to try adding in those fancy peaches in syrup they have at Aldi sometimes. Or when I go Peach Feral usually around June maybe a bunch of fresh peaches. Vodka goes pretty good in it and I bet rum would too.

I am also still open to trying new juices. I can not have OG Sploosh because Kerns doesn't sell their big jugs of peach juice here anymore. I don't even know if they still make it. I used to buy multiple bottles of it a month. I don't like coffee, and only really drink soda or alcohol socially. So fancy bottled water and that damned peach juice were my beverages of choice. I use Simply now but its not exactly the same.

I hope someone out there will love this as much as I did.
