It's ridiculous how many people have started using "I do this for free" to mean "I am blessing you with my greatness" rather than "I have bigger priorities and just ask for some understanding". There's a difference between hate and critique, I'm tired of seeing writers cry about an Ao3 comment and it just says "Hey, you misused the word conspicuous in the 5th paragraph. Love the chapter though!"

I don't even comment when I notice a mistake but I'm upset on behalf of the people who are nicer than me. You're not a bad writer for making a mistake, you're a bad writer when you can't accept constructive feedback and decide to flame someone on social media who was just trying to be helpful.

This is supposed to be collaborative, fandom is a community. "Don't like, Don't read" doesn't really apply to Grammarly or the spellcheck feature on Google Docs. If they aren't being rude about it, don't be rude to them. Being a writer doesn't give you a free pass to ditch fandom etiquette whenever you get a comment you don't like????

P.S. This also applies to issues within fandoms or just plot holes/contradictions in a fic. I'm using this as a general example but I'm sure there's lots of others and I get so annoyed seeing constructive criticism be taken as a personal attack. Regardless of what they were pointing out, it's not difficult to treat them kindly.

If you start analyzing this picture you will find so many plot holes.

Why does Beverly have a bike? Didn't they just come straight from Neibolt? Wasn't she kidnapped there? Why are Eddie and Beverly (and Ben) covered in dirt and grime, but everyone else looks fine? They just waded through so much water, but their clothes are dry? Why is Stan's face okay? Shouldn't his face be not okay? He still has bandages on it in September based on the blood oath scene.

bc that was one of the first scenes they filmed so that it could be in the trailer....

this happens a lot bc studios want teasers and trailers as soon as possible so they can begin marketing. it's pretty difficult to prevent entirely unless you have the budget for sfx artists to be on set every day and reshoots. while It (2017) did have a pretty substantial budget for a horror, sitting at about $30mil, the pennywise makeup alone took over 2 hours and multiple artists. however, other sfx heavy horror films like the recent final destination can be closer to $50mil. it's likely that they only hired them specific days that they were filming skarsgård's scenes and kept only a few on set to save for the post production costs, like cgi.

between first and last day of filming, a lot can happen and sometimes minor inconsistencies are just as simple as budget renegotiations, scheduling conflicts, and deadlines. animation is notorious for it bc studios will only invest the money and time that they think you'll earn back.

also, someone reblogged to hate on andy muschietti which is very funny to me (a filmmaker, if you couldn't tell) bc that's actually the responsibility of the heads of makeup and executive producers. sorry to inform you but the director's more like a coordinator or supervisor, producers are the ones that handle everything behind the scenes.

anyways yea this is actually super common and you're guaranteed to find mistakes like this in any film you nitpick for long enough. unfortunately, very few directors have been allowed to film chronologically so scene 34 could be braids and scene 35 could be a ponytail.

im not talking about nostalgia, im talking about him having been one of the first queer characters in a mainstream children's book series?? i think often you guys forget that these books were published in the '00s and early '10s, before gay people were much more than a punchline in media. it's like saying cyrus goodman was bad representation, you're drawing comparisons between an iphone and a telegraph.

representation doesn't exist to fit your perception of what a "good" lgbt character should look like, representation exists to represent. nico di angelo wasn't written to be good, he is good because he was written. criticizing lgbt+ rep from before gay marriage was legalized for not holding up to modern standards means that it worked... having conversations about what constitutes good and bad representation means that we HAVE representation to debate about.

the public's perception of queer ppl has shifted MASSIVELY in the last decade, especially with the legalization of gay marriage in the US only having been passed 9 years ago. it's easy to say early rep is bad, because if it doesn't age poorly then nothing has improved.

Sirius is a Singer

Remus is an Actor

James is an Actor

Peter is a Music Producer

Sirius got his start on YouTube posting songs and covers but eventually him and Peter worked together to release an EP.

Peter has been producing for a while but meets Sirius after being asked to work with Regulus. He's produced most of the brothers' music and is a very close friend to them all.

James met Sirius after he was cast in a music video for Sirius' debut album and the two immediately became best friends.

Remus was a child actor who meets the other three through his best friend (child actor turned popstar, Pandora Rosier).

Pandora and Remus met on the set of a show when they were around 11 years old. After switching to music full-time, Pandora got into some drama with Regulus Black (fellow former child star turned popstar) after he was dumped by Barty Crouch Jr. (nepo baby supreme- his dad is a huge film director) for Pandora's brother, Evan.

Regulus Black loses contact with Sirius for years while his parents force him into acting. Once the studio realizes he is a great singer, they begin trying to push him towards their record label and he ends up singing quite a lot for a few shows before his contract ends. When it does, he continues music and through this he reconnects with his brother after his career takes off. Regulus wrote his debut album following his messy breakup with Barty and Pandora, assuming he was badmouthing her brother, snaps back with her own Single. Eventually the two work things out and become close friends.

Sirius meets Remus after Pandora throws a party to celebrate the success of her latest single topping the charts. The two start off as friends but fade into more.

Regulus finds Lily Evans on TikTok and invites her to open for a leg of his tour. She's a very unique popstar with a distinct aesthetic that stands out during the tour and ends up helping to skyrocket her career.

Regulus meets James while attending the Met Gala one year and the two go back and forth for about a year before officially getting together.

Pandora covers one of Lily's songs and Lily reaches out to compliment her. Pandora immediately starts bonding with Lily over music and after several "is this a date?"s they start dating in private. Neither of them want to go public too early into the relationship in case they don't work out and their fans start a hate war. Lily is publicly out but Pandora isn't so they decide for her to stay in the closet until the right time.

Barty and Evan aren't very famous on their own but they've got a solid instagram following and way too much money. They met at an award show while Pandora was still acting where they hit it off. Because Barty was dating Regulus at the time, they chose to stay friends but one thing led to another and Barty broke things off to date Evan 2 weeks later.
